Dr. Anup Kubal, MD

Made appointment 2 months prior and provided my health insurance information. One day before appointment office called to discuss my insurance Plan. I informed them I already provided this information but again it was a PPO Advantage Plan. They infomed me that in the event my eye prescription changed there would be a $65 charge where I stated if they perform the exam they will have the necessary information to write the script and for that I would pay $65, I immediately informed them to cancel the appointment. This is a ridiculous way in which to run a Professional business.

Dr. Kubal is like a friend that you definitely want to have. He performed my corneal transplant, and I have visited his office for surgical follow and after. He is a knowledgeable, skilled surgeon whose approach is based on thorough understanding of the condition, and non-aggressive resolution when ever possible, for the best outcome. He clearly bases his treatment on years of experience and research, keeping in mind this is a scary time for any patient. He is patient, sincere, caring and factual, always clear about the options available. I would recommend Dr. Kubal to any and all of my family and friends.

My visit was to secure a second opinion about proposed surgery by another surgeon. It was a "fit in" semi-urgent but wait time was reasonable. Dr. Kubal carefully reviewed records, performed a thorough examination on his own, and reviewed my options with me. He carefully explained the possible risks and benefits; his communication skills are excellent. The fact that he is a veteran of being on a med school faculty gave extra weight to his opinion. The opthamologist who suggested I go to Dr. Kubal for a second opinion (not the one who proposed surgery) had been his resident and complimented his surgical skills: "he made complicated procedures look easy." In short, although he did not directly treat me, I can recommend him highly.
