Dr. April Hodnicak, DO

Yelled at us during our ER visit for my son. My son has asthma and was fighting influenza. He had a high heart rate, was dehydrated, dizzy, nauseated, weak, fever and chills. We had given him medication at home to help his symptoms and especially the fever. We went into hopefully receive fluids as he was not able to drink enough and eat. Was refusing. He is 11 and cognitively impaired. She yelled at me and told me she could give my son fluids but it defeats the purpose if I’m not going to do my job at home as the parent. She was very rude, disrespectful, aggressive and confrontational. I told her she was rude and that was no way to talk to a parent seeking help. She continued to make rude comments and “tell me what I should be doing as a parent”. So I grabbed my son and daughter and left. Mindful we are all sick…my son could hardly walk and still dizzy. We left the er and she didn’t help us with a wheelchair or the door. Completely uncalled for. We also waited for an hour and a half.

She did not even assess when in the room except with her eyes. Did not even touch her patient and misdiagnosed her. I wont Include further details of what happened this day as now the patient has been properly diagnosed by a capable physician with a condition that could potentially land the patient in front of her in an emergency again. However, it would never be intentional to see Dr. Hodnicak again. Horrible bedside manner and truly should not be working with patients.

One of the most unpleasant Drs I’ve ever came across. Was rude and did not ask any questions. Was put out that I brought my elderly parent in to the ER when we were called by Dr to take her to ER due to results from a MRI. Communication skills are poor.

She doesn’t even qualify a one star rating! One of the rudest and condescending Drs. That have encountered. She is not receptive to patients questions and does not explain things well. The insurance companies are throwing their money out the window on this one!
