I missed an appointment because I started a new job and he called me personally and left a message telling me that I wasn’t sticking to my medication schedule (even though I was) and that if I continued to not listen to him then he would not be able to have me as a patient. Very full of himself and doesn’t listen to your needs. The whole GI department at UW Health is a joke, but he is especially awful.

This doctor was arrogant and verbally abusive in my appointment. He mocked me multiple times and was condescending. I wish the appt was videotaped because there is no way someone could witness this and not fire this man on the spot. He refused to answer my questions because he said there was nothing wrong with me. He kept repeating it to me in this quiet, yet authoritative, and belittling tone - "There is nothing wrong with you." (which makes no sense because I was referred to him since he's supposed to know more about my problem than the more general gastroenterologists). He told me that my reports and diagnosis were wrong (even though I was holding the UW Health reports in my hand!). He said my UW Health gastroenterlogist and radiologist misdiagnosed me. I've had the same diagnosis by every doctor my whole life. I know my condition. Now suddenly, this guy is telling me that everyone is wrong? This man is deeply disturbed and should not be allowed to see patients.

Not responsive to my calls when I was in extreme pain with my Ulcerative Colitis. Dr Wald told me to go to my General Practitioner. I explained to him the pain was my UC, he said it was muscle memory not to worry. Two days later I ended up in the ER and a week later in the hospital for 5 days and now heading to ostomy surgery. He is still unresponsive and referred me to my GP for pain management, I will need to find another Gastroenterologist for after surgery care now.

Dr Wald is smart but not patient friendly. He is lacking in follow up skills and seems to dislike questions.

Brilliant doctor. Vast amounts of knowledge. Able to answer all of my questions with ease. Does not rely on a computer program to guide to the next step in treatment.

I thought he had all the answers with the way he talked, I was wrong. He can take the talk, but definitely cannot walk the walk.
