Dr. Arul Verghis, MD

He's nice but could definitely listen to his patients concerns better. Doesn't believe when a patient says they are not receiving pain relief with what he is providing. I was a patient of his partner Dr Geevargheese for over 10 years and had no issues until he retired and I was switched over to Dr Verghis who immediately took me off the medications Dr G had me on. He did not wean me off of them so I went through horrible withdrawals. It's been almost 2 years and I still have constant pain and for some reason he doesn't either believe me or realize that what I'm on now doesn't help in the same way my old medication did. I went from taking two to three pills per day to now being on over 8 pills a day which could cause liver issues and he has told me as much. He's a nice guy but he doesn't listen to his patients. I've heard from patients in the waiting room and also heard complaints from patients in other rooms as I wait for him to see me and it seems to be a common thing that he believes he knows your pain level better than you do. 2 years I've been in constant pain and all he does is calculate doses in his head of how much I should take based on the rules of Norton's I guess instead of listening to patients. I cannot take injections bc I have a bad reaction to them so that's not an option for me and  I'm not a pill seeker and have never had dirty urine or an off pill count in the over 12 years I've been going there but I still feel like he is judging me and not believing what I say. I've asked for testing to be done to find out what medications work best for me and my body and it's not something that he will put in for. Most of the time he tells me to go to my PCP for any issues that he doesn't want to deal with even though they're related to pain management. I've seen where people put in reviews and give him five stars even though they haven't seen him in years and they like to say that the only bad reviews he gets are from pill seekers but I know that's not true. I don't know how he was before he joined Norton's but now that he's joined them things have changed. I believe he should follow the rules for giving pain medication and not giving out too much but he also needs to realize that everyone is different and just because a calculation stipulates that you can't have over a certain dosage, he needs to realize that we're not all built the same and some people have a higher tolerance to certain medications and some work well for one person and that same medication may not work as well for another person. He goes by the book but maybe a little too much. I would just like to feel like I'm being heard and not brushed off when I'm speaking with him about my body because I know my body better than he does.

I have seen Dr verges for at least 12 years. He is the best. He cares for you and how well you are doing. He is a Godly man.I saw him in Bardstown KY, thank you Dr verges for taking care of me I appreciated you so much.

Dr. Verghis respective, understanding, gentle and comprehensive; treating each patient as the unique individual they are. An epidural with no anesthesia? No problem. Medication is thoroughly discussed before it is prescribed. This is a physician who knows his patients and returns phone calls. In the event he is not available, he has an equally competent colleague to answer your needs. His staff is beyond exceptional no matter weather you are in-office or out. Bye to NY - back to KY!
