You Can Do Better
I did not have a great experience with Dr. Tewari, and more broadly the Urology Department at Mount Sinai, New York. Important appointments were rescheduled at the last minute, very little concern or concern for what the meant for me. The appointments that did happen were always delays resulting in long waits in the waiting room.

The Man with the Golden Hands...and more
“A Man with the Golden Hands” – said my primary care MD when he referred me to Dr Tewari. After an amazingly successful surgery, without any complications, I feel that Dr Tewari’s heart is also golden. He treated me and other patients like friends. Plus, he has a golden team of doctors and nurses working on his team. I feel very grateful to Dr Tewari and happy that I turned to him and his team with the problem I had, which they cured.

Best surgeon Best team
August 2024 i am a 65 year old that choose surgery over other available options for my prostate cancer, after a vast amount of research. After careful consideration I choose the best surgeon I could that works in one of the best hospitals in a city filled with great hospitals. Mt Sinai has invested resources, the best, most up date equipment, and software technology and a complete team in Dr Tewari. You could not be in better hands. The added bonus that I was not expecting was the high level of communication and follow up. Dr Tewari himself texted me the night before surgery to reassure me that I was good hands. It is now 3 weeks since surgery and his staff and fellows have checked on me several times. The office staff is as caring and professional as can be. They helped me navigate through insurance and test results, calling labs and imaging centers for me as well. I had just met this entire team and Dr Tewari and they all made me feel as if I was regular.

Terrible office and follow-up
Dr. Tewari performed my procectomy. I continued my follow up appointments at Mount Sinai initially with Dr Tewari's office. On our first visit he was considering applying radioactive seeds to the prostate bed, but didn't think it was necessary. The doctor was away for the rest of my follow-up visits because he was away receiving awards for work in prostate cancer care. His physical assistant did the blood work and said he would review the results. She repeated gave me the thumbs-up on my PSA. I have prostate cancer now for life.

Untrustworthy surgeon.
Untrustworthy surgeon. I chose Dr. Tewari after lot of research; he happens to be probably the most experienced surgeon who does Robotic Radical Prostatectomy. I paid a lot and travelled long distance just for his vast knowledge and expertise in this field but ended up having a bitter experience. Prior to the operation, I asked him if he will do the main part of the robotic surgery himself and he said yes he will. Under anesthesia, patients do not know who did what but before I went back home, I found out from someone that main part of the robotic procedure was done by another surgeon with much much less experience than Dr. Tewari. At the follow-up visit, when I asked Dr. Tewari why he let other doctor do the main part of the procedure when he promised during my initial conversation with him that he will do the main robotic procedure himself, he did not answer my question and looked away. When I asked again, he again avoided me and started talking to his PA about his schedule. It

Would not recommend him
Dr. Tewari boasts about his athermal nerve sparing technique and his novel surgical technique of detrusor wrap procedure to minimize post-operative incontinence; but none of his expert techniques worked for me and I was left with severe, permanent incontinence after Robotic Assisted Radical Prostatectomy by world’s most renowned urologist!! He seems to be losing his focus and attention on real patient care and concentrating more on his ongoing research and statistics. And, God knows what happened to his catheter-less Robotic procedure he describes in his booklet he gives to prospective patients; not only I was left with a catheter for 13 days, it was burning 24/7 like hell and despite multiple requests he, nor any of his associates, came to check me to see what was going on and if something could have been done to help. What a shame! I would not recommend him; his place is like a prostate removal factory rather than a truly patient dedicated health care facility. Recommend.

I feel very fortunate to get my prostate checked by Dr. Tewari. He is a wonderful person and very experienced in his field. When I met him first time till my surgery, he gave me so much confidence and the way he talked was so soothing. He’s the best, I don’t think I could have gone to somebody better. I got all my appointments in line and on time.

I've made a few bad choices in my life! Dr. Ash Tewari was definitely one of my best choices! If you've got prostate cancer go see 3-4 doctors, then go see Dr Tewari! Do your due diligence! Record every visit with each doctor, this way you can go back and listen to what they said! Every case is different ! Dr. Ash Tewari explains everything, so don't say I didn't know this could happen after your operation, good or bad! Every situation is different, just make sure you do your own homework! Remember you have the final say! Good luck! P.S. I am cancer free! The staff is top Notch!

Horrible, horrible experience from beginning to end. My PSA levels were 8+. I was referred to him by my doctor. Late April/early May, I called to set up an appoint with Tewari. I told them my levels were 8+ and I needed a biopsy asap. They gave me July 6th. Dr. Tewari never spoke to me before or after the procedure. I don't even know what he looks like which is extremely unprofessional. I was discharged after the biopsy and given an appointment for a video visit on July 28th. My results came back on July 7, 2021 and were positive for prostate cancer. No one including Dr Tewari contacted me with the results. I had a follow up video visit on July 28th. I was on hold for a long period of time and the doctor never joined the call. They rescheduled another video visit the next day and same experience. The doctor again didn't join the call. Can you possibly understand how I felt? Words cannot explain how I feel right now. I would not recommend Tewari to my worst enemy.

Dr. Tewari is highly experienced in robotic surgery. Mt Sinai provides endless videos and stats promoting him and robotics as the best shot to get rid of prostate cancer, and preserve one's continence and potency. I fell for it. Dealing with Mt Sinai is a disaster. I fell sorry for anyone who get treatment there. Afterwards, when I had both the problems I had feared, as well as the cancer, Tewari and all assurances disappeared. Too late, I understood why he seems to have a lot of success. They(Sinai and Dr.) don't count or even acknowledge failures. No one at the hospital ever asked me about how bad the failure was, and ignored me when I tried to tell Tewari and find out what to do. My suggestion is Do Not Believe Tewari or Mt Sinai. Try Mayo or Loma Linda, but Don't go to Mt. Sinai.

Under no circumstances should anyone go to this doctor. The office is CHAOS; they cannot even find records or email you. The wait time is FOREVER and no one talks to you during your wait as to why it has been a two hour wait already! This doctor spends the least amount of time with the patient as is humanly possible! THE WORST MEDICAL EXPERIENCE EVER!

My surgery was 4 years ago this week. I was a Gleason 9, fortunately organ confined, my PSA remains undetectable and I am cancer free. I have no lasting side effects from my surgery. Dr. Tewari is a compassionate, exceedingly competent surgeon and a pioneer in robotic surgery. I thank him and his team every day.

As a Physician myself I researched thoroughly for the right Urologist for robotic radical prostatectomy. Dr Tewari is clearly the best. He is the only surgeon that checks for clear tumor margins during the operation. I had a pre-op psa of 25, gleason score of 7, and stage T3a. I was completely continent right after surgery and had an undetectable psa 6 wks. after surgery.
