TERRIBLE AND UNCARING OFFICE STAFF
His office staff leaves a lot to be desired. Carole his nurse is wonderful. I am a 68 year old male who has had a tough couple of years. I received a call that they do not take my insurance (mind you I had 4 appointments so far). When I got my statements from Humana they paid his office. Now I have to find a new Doctor. The lack of concern by his office staff was terrible. It amazes me how these staffers can just call and tell you that you are not covered (especially after 4 visits) and can do it without caring for the patient.

His prescriptions are highly unprofessional. Prescribes multiple medications in the same drug class with no concern for the safety of his patients. Doesn’t respond to clarification requests for days and when we call have to hold 30 mins before getting to talk to anyone. Sad this is what drs have turned into

Unconcerned
My son was going through a bad time with his mental health and had just moved back to Daytona now too old for his pediatrician he needed a primary care dr. Roxy had retired so we were referred to his replacement. Initially the office gave the wrong month for his appointment and he showed up a month early he registered and filled out all the paperwork. However the next month he failed to get himself to the appointment because of his depression so I called and asked them to give him my appointment and explained the situation. I have never had the misfortune to talk to a dr office who could be less concerned about the weal fare of a young person. They refused to see him and said that he was barred due to missing his appointment. Roxy was my dr on and off for many years and was a caring compassionate and competent dr. This experience is the antithesis of the principles he stood for. The consequence is that this aggravated my sons paranoia and set us a long was back in finding him help.

Not For Me
He was my doctor for 4-5 months. I kept trying to be optimistic but this office kept showing me I should not. My patient portal demonstrates they failed me in following up and explaining results of tests, in diagnosing, and medication needs, misinformed me of status of retest. Failed to lower a prescription drug dose when I became hyperthyroid. He said ti was fine; it was not fine. I had to have this addressed with another doctor. I felt my simple health questions were a bother or were ignored.

I should also add that a major reason I finally sought a different doctor is because on more than one occasion Schock delayed in authorizing prescription refills! I finally had to file a complaint with Halifax Patient Relations in order for him to respond to the need to refill my prescriptions. Being my age (70 years old), the new doctor also set me up with a blood test, which Schock hadn't done in over a year.

I have visited Dr. Schock a few times. He is very to the point, he does not dilly dally. He listens to all of your concerns, but you only need to state them once and simply, from there he will give you very caring and helpful advice and answers all of your follow up questions.

As soon as I arrived, the office staff checked me, an hour went by I approached the desk again, my file somehow got lost going from the front office to the back office. They took me in right away and the doctor came right in and tended to me. They all apologized repeatedly. The doctor was calling in medicine for me to better my situation. We verified where to call into. Later that evening, went to pick up my rx and it was just not ready but never called in. I had to call the next morning to have it called in. Now, this is not typical for this office. Usually, they are right on time for appointments and have never had prescription issues before. I have chalked it up as they were just having "one of those days" as we all have had at one point or another. Dr. Schock seems to be a caring doctor, asks lots of questions and actually listens to my concerns.

Denied me a prescription for back pain medicine which I had been taking for twenty years but is no longer available without prescription. Made me feel like a criminal. Said he would feel uncomfortable prescribing it. Recommended alternative treatment that, as an uninsured patient, he knew I couldn't afford. Said he didn't care if I find a new Dr. (but only after charging me $500 and ordering me to take expensive drug test.). More concerned with his own comfort than mine. Unconcerned 'Dr.'
