Had a bunch of kidney stones removed prior to prostate surgery. His communication with my other doctor was excellent and his communication of the process and results was greatly appreciated. Had some complications but always felt confident that i was in good hands.

I chose Dr. Slade because he appeared to me as a 'surgical nerd', somebody who is passionate and knowledgeable about his specialty. I think that was spot on. His communication was clear, our interactions made the awkward process as comfortable as possible, and the execution of the vasectomy went as smoothly as I could have hoped for. I may not be typical but my pain in the operation was brief minimal and 24 hours later I have only taken 3 ibuprofen. I highly recommend him for a vasectomy and if I ever need a urologist again I will be calling him.

My dad was having problems with this prostate at 87 years old with a weak Heart. Immediately after the surgery my dad ended up in the hospital was septic and now he is fighting for his life in a convalescent hospital he was a healthy. 87 year old man still driving a car and living independently last year June 23 operated on October 2023. And now a vegetable! Our entire family is devastated by the rapid decline of our father since October 2023.

He made me comfortable from the beginning and my decision was made with all confidence in him. I won't lie I was still a bit scared about the surgery, but his awesome surgical team at St Luke's relieved me of all of my anxiety. He performed the HoLEP surgery,which is the latest surgical procedure and very specialized, only a handful of urologists in the country are qualified to perform. Dr Slade even called me at home to see how my healing was progressing after surgery. It has been a month into my recovery and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. All of my previous symptoms have subsided and I feel better than I have in ten years.I would highly recommend Dr Slade to anyone.

DOCTOR AUSTEN SLADE has changed my life! The surgery was painless and I had very little bleeding, waking with wood the 1st week. Three months in, I am fully recovered, as though I never had an enlarged prostrate. I am pleased with the results of DR Slade’s technique and skill. At age 71 I am now enjoying the best health ever.

I am a 71 year old male. I had issues with enlarged prostrate and recurring bladder infections. I had to be catheterized to get bladder emptied. I met with Dr. Slade and discussed doing a HoLep surgery. Within 3 months after surgery, I no longer need to wear pads and have no leakage. I have been able to quit 2 medications for prostrate and bladder control. This has been a life changer for me.

I wish he had been available when I had my first prostate surgery. Great bedside manner with his explanations and then listening to my concerns. The medical profession needs to follow his example of compassionate service. Would recommend him to anyone who needs his skill!

I have struggled with kidney stones off and on for about 4 years. Recently I ended up in the hospital with severe pain and more stones. Dr. Slade met with me the very next morning and talked through all my options. He was incredibly thorough, knowledgeable, and kind. Dr. Slade actually took the time to listen to all of my concerns and answered all of my questions. He was able to get me in and perform my procedure that same afternoon. The procedure went well and Dr. Slade continued to check in on me the entirety of my hospital stay as well as after I came home. I am extremely thankful to have a urologist who I can trust and count on. I now have confidence moving forward in my kidney stone treatment and urology needs.

After considerable research for a knowledgeable and competent urologist who specialized in the HoLep procedure, I found Dr. Slade. I live 8 hours north of Boise, but after meeting with him I knew my search had ended. I had the confidence he had the skills I was looking for to treat my very enlarged prostate which cut off the natural flow from my bladder. Dr. Slade listens and truly cares about his patients. I had surgery on Sept. 8 and after 3 weeks I could not be more pleased. Five stars is not enough to express how highly I recommend Dr. Slade.

It was a miracle Dr Slade came across our path! He was simply on call, and was called in to change a catheter, but he didn't just do that, he took the time to understand WHY there was a need for a catheter. He knows he has a specific skill sets that allow him to help patients better than just treating the symptoms, he fixes the source of the problem! Dr Slade offers the very best care. And saves lives! Because he is seriously an amazing person, this rolls over to making him a phenomenal Dr and with unique skills! You will not regret going to Dr Slade!

Dr. Slade is extremely well-informed, and yet can explain things to a layman like myself without condescending and making me feel dumb. He is timely, responsive, friendly and everything you want from a healthcare provider. Cannot give a higher recommendation.

OMG....hands down best Dr I have ever met. I wish I could give him 10 stars. History on me.....I have struggled with kidney stones since 2021 and have had 3 previous Drs try to help me reduce my pain and figure out what my body was doing and how to fix, however no success. But then in May of 2023 my life changed. My path crossed with Dr. Slade and with 1 surgery he took out 100s of stones and took my pain away. Now he is helping me figure out how to keep the stones from growing again. I finally feel GREAT after all his help. He actually told me when we met that he would be by my side through this and help me figure it out.....and he totally has been. My favorite thing about Dr Slade is his great bedside manor....he definitely cares about his patients. I will forever be grateful our paths have crossed. Doctor Austen Slade led what I consider to be a complicated procedure that has changed my life in every positive way I can think of. I had suffered from an enlarged prostate with a PSA of 17 for over a decade. I was referred to Dr. Slade in an emergency situation recently when I had an 8mm kidney stone that could not easily be accessed for removal due to my excessively large prostate and enlarged bladder. His training prepared him to conduct a relatively new, innovative procedure called HoLEP to hollow out my prostate and continue up me to remove the massive kidney stone. His post-care attention and knowledge has literally changed my life in so many positive ways. Even though I do not live in Boise, I will likely visit Boise just to consult with him on any future follow-up. I trust him more than any Urologist I have encountered on this very difficult and complicated journey.
