Eye issues? Dr. Hinkle, the most caring doctor you will ever meet.My 82 yr old husband couldn't see out of his right eye, the lense on his left eye from a previous surgery was also foggy. After a consult and testing, Dr. Hinkle and staff took outstanding care of my husband. Surgery was fast and without issues, recovery was extremely fast and my husband is now back to enjoying life, he is so happy to be able to see again. Surgery involved a lense being cleaned from a previous surgery, which took all of a couple of minute's and a cataract removed from the other eye. I have never seen a team so meticulous and caring. They were all on top of everything from start to finish. A great office, great surgery center and great people all through, which is hard to find these day's. Dr. Henkel is the BEST! He as well as the whole staff were remarkable. He checked and fixed my right eye all in the same day. I highly recommend him to any and everybody. God really blessed him with the best personality needed for his job. He really is a God-send. I would give him 10 stars, not 5.

If I could leave 0 stars, I would. He is actually a friendly, compassionate doctor who treated my elderly mother kindly. His office staff on the other hand is completely unprofessional, rude and generally unhelpful. Not only was I given multiple different excuses for their lack of follow through on medications I was also given faulty information regarding referrals. Not only that but when I became exasperated trying to work WITH them, Dr Henkel’s assistant actually hung up on me. I am actually a nurse myself working in a busy drs office and if I treated our patients like they treated us, I’d be out of a job. Busy and stressed is one thing, unnecessary rudeness is completely uncalled for.

Dr Henkel really cares about his patients! He answered all of our questions clearly. He did an outstanding job on my wife's cataract surgery. This can be a pretty scary time, but he put us at ease through the entire process. We highly recommend him!

Dr. Henkel is absolutely awesome! me & my kids see him & we just love him. We never have to wait long were always in & out fairly quickly. office staff is very sweet & always helpful. i HIGHLY recommend him!

I went in for my anual eye exam and he said that I should eat healthier but he needs to practice what he preaches. He wouldn’t let me say anything the exam was over in about 2 minutes.

I recently saw Dr. Henkel for PRK surgery. He took the time to have his staff do thorough measurements, tests, and consultation to make sure I was a good candidate for the procedure. When it turned out I was, he then took the time to go over everything thoroughly, and answer all my questions. On the day of the procedure, it took all of 30 minutes from start to finish. Now, I see fantastic out of both eyes. No more contacts or glasses (of which I have worn for the past 30 years!). The facility is well run, very clean, and his staff is very friendly. Dr. Henkel's demeanor is very caring, thoughtful, and has your best interest in mind when discussing potential procedures. I highly recommend Dr. Henkel!

I went to see Dr. Henkel for PRK surgery to correct my vision. I was impressed with how caring, efficient, and knowledgeable he and his staff were throughout the whole process. I was nervous to have my eyes worked on, but he explained every step of what he was doing during the procedure and was continually reassuring. He also was very thorough after surgery to follow up and ensure I was doing well post-op. I am very pleased with how sharp and crisp my vision has become since electing to have PRK with Dr. Henkel, and I would highly recommend him.

I saw Dr. Henkel because my eyes were always so dry and irritated due to wearing my contacts. I have never been so impressed by a doctor and his staff. He was so thorough and spent time with me to explain all of my options. He performed surgery on my eyes and now I am glasses/contacts free and seeing wonderful, even better than I was seeing before. This surgery was life changing and I am so thankful Dr. Henkel was my surgeon.

I can't recommend Dr. Henkel. He was almost two hours late for my appointment. He also called a quickie staff meeting in the hallway outside of my room. A patient was given dilating drops even though they were contraindicated. The patient then had to be sent to the ER. Be aware that this ophthalmologist doesn't do refractions. He recommended that I find an optometrist to take care of the glasses he thought I needed. Neat, clean offices, and friendly staff. I choose not to return because of the poor patient experience from the physician. My time is as valuable as his. An apology would have been appreciated.

I met Dr. Henkel at the Eye Center South in Destin. I've had Pterygiums and Cataracts in both eyes for many years. To get this cleared up would mean four surgeries. I didn't know if I could handle that much stress. Dr. Henkel explained in depth the procedure and all the new technics. I liked his confidence so much I couldn't wait to get scheduled. I have just completed the last surgery. Thank you Dr. Henkel for opening my world to all its beauty again.

The whole office is incredibly nice and professional. My wife had a nicked her Eye Sclera. It was full of blood. We were from out of town and the office worked us in that very day. Austin Henkel has it all. He puts you at ease immediately. Is confident in his actions and knowledge. His associates are just as competent. If you need anything. Please go to him. A friendly competent office which will calm you down and solve your problem. Just GO!

Dr. Henkel impressed me by taking his time after a thorough eye examination explaining his findings and recommendations. He answered all my questions and never appeared to be rushing to his next appointment. Dr. Henkle has a bubbly personality and isn't afraid to share a smile. Great job Dr. Henkel, see you next year
