Dr. Barry Schechter, MD

BUYER BEWARE! To start, Dr. Barry Schecter has zero bedside manner. After waiting more than an hour to see him, he gives me the ‘bums-rush’ out the door, insulting me when I asked a question. After paying $3600 for cataract surgery, he wanted to charge me an additional $50 to give me a copy of my own reading eyeglass prescription (squeeze every last penny, doc). Immediately after leaving his office today I signed a release form for another doctor to obtain my records from him and be done with Dr Barry Schecter, Florida Eye Microsurgical. He is an outstanding ophthalmological surgeon. It is my pleasure to highly recommend Dr Schechter, for anyone who need Eye Surgery. You couldn't find a more caring and compassionate doctor. He restored my confidence in the medical profession all the way through Pre & Post Surgery of my eye cataract removal, and lens replacement; he never once doubted my successful recovery. He cautioning me on all the do's and don'ts for a successful recovery after surgery. In addition, his medical assistants were excellent towards me throughout the process along with all of the his other office staff. My wife and I both thank you very much for your calm demeanor, total confidence, and providing a total care office environment. Everything was done at the Eye Institute facility and reviewed minutes later with me as a patient. You are the best Dr Schechter! Many thanks to you and your excellent staff. I have a new lease on seeing, reading, and best of all, totally independent of wearing glasses.

Dr Barry A. Schechter, MD has properly diagnosed my eyes and determined that he could remove my cataracts and correct my vision with IOL implants, so that I would no longer need external glasses again for the rest of my life. I have undergone this operation and I can truly say that now I am eyeglasses free. I presently have excellent vision for closeup, medium and distant vision since surgery that took place only six weeks ago. At 80 years of age, I am no longer a slave to my trifocal external glasses that previously was on my eyes or in my pocket at all times. I have put away glasses in less than two weeks. He is an experienced ophthalmologist, professional, optimistic, kind, knowledgeable, with a great staff and had a positive outlook that made me feel very comfortable throughout the surgery process. I highly recommend Dr Schechter as a very competent ophthalmological surgeon; while rating him a 5 star doctor in his trained profession.

Quantity over quality! Need I say more.

This was the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor. He showed no real concern for how awful the condition of my eye was. He proceeded to tell me that he couldn't do anything for me because of needing a prior authorization from my insurance company. I informed him that I had my eye lid Lanced before in a doctor's office and there was no prior authorization needed. In a very stern tone he continued to tell me that there was nothing he could do without the authorization. His office made no attempt to verify that a prior authorization was needed. On the following day pre a inquiry by my internal medicine doctor to expedite the process for me,the doctors office informed them that they didn't need a prior authorization after informing me that they did! As a result of this extremely horrible doctors visit, I had to see another doctor the following day to address the serverty of my eye. I would not recommend this doctor.

Wait time is totally unreasonable-30-45min. Then another 25min in exam tm. Dr S is personable, but much too rushed. Need time for treatment alternatives. Patient education totally lacking!

I was recommended by another eye doctor to Dr schecter and I found him to be very unprofessional and degrading my questions in his office. I almost felt as if I was being bullied. He seemed as if he was almost belittling me because he was my second choice for a doctor and I was being punished for it. He spoke about other patients with my door being open and I heard everything. He has zero competition and I wouldn’t bring my worst enemy to him. I walked out of his office so upset

Dr Schechter properly diagnosis and treated my eye condition, which included surgery. He was professional, optimistic, and had a positive outlook which meant a great deal to me. I highly recommend him.

I have been a patient of Dr. Schechter for more than 20 years. His professional expertise is superb. He also took care of me during a Bells Palsy episode and when a broken hose at work squirted abrasive detergent in my eye. Very knowledgeable, caring and attentive. He is always surrounded by an amazing staff who will cater to all your needs from the very beginning to the very end. Look no further.

Dr. told my mom she needed corneal transplant surgery right away or she could have damage and have problems with her eyesight. Told her it was very urgent and quickly scheduled the surgery. I took mom to another corneal specialist that was highly recommended.. Mom did not need a transplant. She had a condition now being treated medically and had dry eye which dr. Scheckner did not diagnose. Not where I would go for treatment.

On January 11,18 I had a cataract surgery the staff and nurses were super nice they explained everything and made me feel at ease. Dr Schechter is wonderful and I will recommend them to my family and friends.

Referred to Dr Schechter from my Optiction ( Dr. Butler of Eye Care Professionals ) after serious eye pain. Within an hour I was seen by Dr Schechter. What a great experience, I was treated within minutes of arrival. All the staff was great, The Doctor spent time with me to explain my condition, which was serious and the course of treatment was to be seen each day. He was even going out of town for the weekend and made sure that I was seen by another great Doctor at the Wellington office, also
