Dr. Ben Schwab, MD

Dr. Schwab took time to explain the procedure before scheduling surgery. On the day of surgery, he explained once more what to expect before the anesthesiologist did his thing. He followed up with a call to inquire of my wellbeing during post-op recovery. During the follow-up visit he once again took time to explain in detail what had been done, how my recovery should proceed and how to heal quickly. He is a truly caring MD. He practices the principles that he enunciates in his excellent video. I would seek him out in a flash if ever I needed surgery again in his field.

I was referred by my Primary physician to Dr. Schwab after an ultrasound revealed an abnormality. I was having abdominal pains intermittently..on & off for almost 2-3 months. During the initial consultation with Dr. Schwab, I was impressed to find out that he read my patient file thoroughly. Some Drs don’t really read pt’s file..maybe they’re just too preoccupied? Dr. Schwab was clearly & absolutely knowledgeable.. patiently explaining everything..in detail the mode of treatment for my condition. I found out I needed surgery. He answered all my questions & addressed all my concerns pre-surgery. He did all these with such professionalism..care & conscientiousness that whatever fears & doubts I have had were all put at ease. He performed the surgery exceptionally well. There’ll never be enough words to express my gratitude & appreciation for Dr. Schwab. I’m incredibly blessed to have been one of his patients. He’s the BEST of the BEST surgeon in my book. Dr. Ben Schwab is a highly competent, skilled surgeon. I was rushed to the ER at John Muir Hospital, in an enormous amount of pain, and found out I needed emergency abdominal surgery. I was very lucky that Dr. Schwab was the doctor who performed it. He was very honest, calmly explaining the seriousness of my condition and that the chances of my surviving the surgery were not good. Fortunately, all went well with the surgery and recovery. During the two weeks I remained in the hospital, Dr. Schwab checked in on me frequently. He was careful and conservative in his management of my health. He always took the time to listen and addressed all of my concerns, and those of my family members. He was a good communicator, explaining and answering my questions in an understandable way. I feel I owe my life to his skill as a surgeon and the great personal care I received from him, as well as the nurses and staff at John Muir Hospital. I would highly recommend him.
