Life saver
Dr. Coffey once saved my life after a seizure; without his prompt attention then I wouldn't be here today. It is fair to say that I like Dr. Coffey and he will continue to be my PCP. I am sure there are busy times but I've never waited for more than half hour to see the doctor and his office staff have always been nice to me. Bottom line is that he is a really good doctor that you can trust with your life.

Un professional to say the least
Had an appointment with Scott coffee this afternoon. Had a list with me of things I wanted to talk to him about. He said pick three that’s most important. They were all important to me. He said he was busy???? He let me know my concerns weren’t important to him. He got up to leave and I asked him if he didn’t work for me. He got mad and told me he was releasing me from his practice. He is very unprofessional and uncaring.

Telehealth
My father has been trying since Monday to get mediation refilled I called Tuesday and left a message myself now it is friday they the doctor's office said that sent order to pharmacy so I called the pharmacy. They have not sent order because I called the pharmacy. They have not received one. The pharmacy is again going to send another request to his office. This is a constant thing with this doctors office. I wish my father would change providers. You can't even get ahold of the office When you call you get a receptionist that’s not even in the same county our building office is in. how can you get qualified healthcare if you can’t get a hold of at least the office during business hours

Don’t go here
If you want to be treated like a piece of sh!!t then this is the place for you. I was on time for my appointment. They argued with me about being 15 mins. And then proceeded to refuse me as a patient because they can’t take “no shows” on the first appointment. I came from an area with the best health care in our country with doctors and offices that make this place look like a 3rd world care center and I’ve never been turned away. This piece of trash doctor and his office are more concerned with billing and policy then turning away someone who is sick and needs thousands of dollars of blood work done. I guess they mind as well write that oath they take as a doctor on a piece of paper then wipe their a$$ with it.

The front office staff is rude, and got smart with me because I didn't have my medical insurance ID number memorized, the nurses told me "I wouldn't have expected you to weigh that much, you must carry your weight well", and Dr Coffey straight up told me he specializes in men's health, and since I'm female, there are illnesses he won't treat. Oh, and I was told my insurance wouldn't cover all of my labs as the needle was draining my arm for said labs. Overall, this office is a joke. I wish I would've read reviews before going.

Still sick after visit in Athens, TN – Jul 31, 2024

We moved to the area a few months ago.
It is difficult to find a new physician you trust. We wanted to stay local and found Dr. Coffey. My husband and I are both patients now. Time will tell but we have had no problem making appointments, no long wait times and Dr. Coffey has a wonderful bedside manner and his staff a great sense of humor.

Bad management
While Dr. Coffee and his staff may be great, the company that is Tennova Health is in bad shape. I have to quit this practice and find another primary care doctor. When I call I CAN NOT talk to a person in the office because I get an answering company who will NOT put me through to the office. No matter the situation I have to tell the person who answers my personal problem and then wait for them to get the message to the office. Then wait for a call back. I'm 69, been going to doctors half my life and never experienced such a thing. When I call my doctor I should get his office.

I have been going to Dr. Coffey for years now. He is a rare find. He is always kind, and takes his time to figure out what is wrong. I can’t believe there is this caliber of medical care tucked away in Athens.

I visited this office with complaints of abdominal pain. I was given labs to confirm a suspected UTI. I never recieved a call when the labs came back negative. I called for information on my lab results and to explain that I wanted a referral because I was in extreme pain. I still never recieved a call or a referral. I found another doctor 2 days later and was found to have ANOTHER diverticulitis infection. He was aware of my previous hospitalizations with this condition and left me in pain for a week without any attempt to diagnose me.

This is probably the best Dr. that me and my family have encountered in a very long time. He always takes his time to listen to each one of our problems no matter what. We could be a walk in and he would act like he had all the time in the world with the waiting room full. The staff is incredible and are very welcoming, sweet-hearted people. I've been here quite a few times now and never once had a bad experience. He's very good when it comes to refilling medications for me and my family as well
