Worst exam ever--literally no talking!
Worst experience ever. She conducted nerve conduction tests, didn't speak to me at all, then walked out of the examination room! I had to follow her down the hall to ask what the results were. Vague answer indicating nerve damage. She should not be practicing!

Completely dismissive, terrible bedside manner. Saw her for what according to the receptionist was a 90 minute consultation, and was told by the receptionist any testing needed would be done at that appointment. Well, my appointment only lasted 10 minutes before she decided she was done. Didn't even knock or say hello when she came in, literally opened the door and said "Why are you here?". Um, okay. Nice to meet you too. Explained to her all my symptoms (which were written in my new patient forms, she acted like she hadn't read any of my history or the previous exam notes I had faxed to her) and explained my history of car accident last year where I was rear ended and twisted my back. Had her mouth open and stared off the entire time I was explaining why I was there, and acted completely disinterested in what I was saying. Did what I consider to be a very minimal exam (walking around the exam room, touched feet and quickly poked 1 spot in my neck and 1 spot in my back a single time) and told me she thought my migraines/severe back and neck pain/neuropathy/migraines were all stress related. Told her I waited 6 months for this consult, IN SEVERE PAIN, and I really wanted to have my back and neck more thoroughly examined before I left. (Remember, this was suppose to be a 90 minute consult that only took 10 minutes). She scoffed and seemed offended when I asked if there was a scan that could be done for my neck/back, and refused to move forward with anything until I tried physical therapy first. I can understand physical therapy possibly helping but I feel like she didn't adequately examine my back and neck to decided that was all I needed. I even pointed out specifically the spots in my spine that were very painful and she did not examine or feel them. I wish she would have at least felt those areas, one in particular feels "bulgey" to me and I'm convinced that if any other doctor felt that they would have investigated further. Going to call my primary and see if I can get referred to someone else who actually cares about their patients.

stroked out
I had an appointment with Dr. Mintz. I recently was admitted to the hospital with stroke symptoms last week after suffering two strokes in the past 2 years. I went to the appointment, Dr. Mintz came in quickly, I had a list of symptoms I wanted to go over and all she said was ok we will raise you medicine 25 milligrams. I didn't get to ask any questions because she wasn't interested and I felt that she wanted to get this over with. She was with me for 5 minutes. She had no interest in my problems. She didn't even do basic tests. Extremely disappointed.

I was appalled at lack of communication and bedside manner from Dr. Mintz after two tests to determine how much nerve damage I incurred a year after ankle surgery. It seems she wasn't going to explain the results even after I asked a series of direct questions; still clueless, I lingered until she returned (after saying goodbye), and asked, "How bad IS the nerve damage?" She said I had "sensory" (vs. motor) damage. That's it. No indication of how many nerves were impacted, whether pain and tingling will worsen, or whether I can expect improvement other than "we can hope" accompanied by a dour expression that gave me the answer I needed. What's the point of seeing a specialist is if they will not render a finding to the patient.

Today I had an appointment with Dr Mintz at Mt Sinai Hospital in New York City. I had a very short wait and she saw me on time. Dr Mintz went over my symptoms, past medical history and then proceeded with a thorough examination. All my questions and concerns were satisfactorily addressed. Would highly recommend. Joel Pinsky

First, I am a practicing healthcare provider. I was referred to Dr. Mintz to address a serious migraine history. She did not review my chart, nor the imaging I had faxed to her office prior to my appointment. I understand that this can be overwhelming but it’s necessary to review. I provided her a review of my medical hx, and any familial pathology links. I expressed my concerns for wavering migraine frequency/intensity and what I have done in the past for treatment. She performed an incomplete neuro exam... the absolute basics said I was normal, despite positive findings listed in my chart. I’m not sure how you can draw those conclusions on a complicated case but she did. My appointment lasted <10 min. Clearly she’s brilliant academically, but she made me feel as if my issues weren’t important enough to warrant attention. In my opinion, if it’s causing disruption in your life, it’s disabling, and I wasn’t referred to her without reason. I’ll be seeking a second opinion.

Was a few minutes late because of the subway. She wasted no time letting go of the appointment, though nobody had the courtesy to tell me until I had spent 20 minutes on their ridiculous check in screen. It was very difficult and stressful for me to get time and make it all the way to her office. Guess I’ll continue my quest to find a neurologist who gives half a damn. Hopefully it will come before complete disability.

After years of treating my mother for dementia she suddenly refused to renew her prescribed medications. And refused to take my calls. She dropped my mother as a patient without even making a referral. This is not a physician who can be trusted to have her patients’ interests at heart.
