Hip Replacement - Don't put it off!
I recently had a total hip replacement performed by Dr. Prather, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the experience and results. From the initial consultation through post-op care, Dr. Prather was professional, compassionate, and incredibly skilled. He took the time to explain the procedure thoroughly and made sure I felt confident and informed every step of the way.The surgery itself went flawlessly, and my recovery has been smoother than I expected. His team was equally exceptional—supportive, responsive, and genuinely caring. Every detail, from scheduling to follow-up and PT, was handled with efficiency and kindness. This was my first health-related experience with Hendricks Regional, and it was amazing. Thanks to Dr. Prather and his staff, I’m already getting back to doing the things I love. I highly recommend him to anyone in need of joint replacement—you’ll be in the best hands!

Great surgeon
Had my hip replaced. Couldn't be happier with the care I received. The surgical staff was amazing, I was nervous but the staff was caring and professional. Dr. Prather answered all questions and I feel he really cares about his patients. Would definitely recommend!

Hip Replacement
I am one year out from my hip replacement. Dr. Prather did a fantastic job in all aspects. He listened to my concerns and made exercise recommendations. I never felt rushed when I saw him. If my other hip ever needs to be replaced I would not hesitate to see him again.

Need another surgery to fix this one.
Dr Prather is kind and respectful but it’s a miss on my surgery. Even my GP questioned why he left me in such a painful mess. Now it’s either live with the results and pain or go through another surgery with another surgeon. When I saw him about this, he offered no real answer.

Dr Prather total knee
Highly recommend he and his team (Kate). Total knee replacement. Very knowledgable, professional, personable, and honest, spending necessary time pre and post op to explain everything both professionally and with well-spoken honesty. My only i issue was with the discharge team; none with surgical, nursing staff, or PT. Overall good experience, handled well by this team.

Highly Recommend
Dr Prather and his team, as well as all of the other accompanying nurses, CRAs, etc were so kind, helpful, explained everything, had excellent bedside manner. I had my right hip replaced today and I was nervous. But the staff took such good care of me that I soon became comfortable. My surgery was at 7:30am and I was out of there by 1pm, but not because I was rushed, but because I did so well. Everyone was very thorough. I’m at home and I’m walking with a walker, climbing stairs (minimally) and sleeping in my own bed. Wonderful experience!

He came highly recommended to me. I had my left knee replaced six weeks ago. He is the living proof of a professional doctor ! I have already recommended him to another family member, and will continue to recommend him. The five star ratings do not do him justice. He’s a 10 out of 10

Poor communication
Dr. Prather does not explain well and contradicts himself. Will not make a definitive decision. Needs to say what he means and do what he says.

My husband had a hip replacement in March of 2020 and I had a knee replacement in August 2020. Both of us could not have been more pleased with our surgery or the folloq up treatment Dr. Prather gave to us. Would recommend him to anybody, and have already done so with friends who knew we had these surgeries and asked for recommendations.

I am following up. Dr. Prather replaced my right hip in 2012. 8+ years later, everything is still great. He was awesome thru the whole process and has a very gentle, caring approach on how he talks with you. Each meeting continued to decrease any fear I had. I began playing golf 3 months later and never looked back. Everyone at the ortho department is fabulous and would highly recommend each one

Dr. Prather replaced my right hip with an anterior approach (from the front) I was home the next day & painlessly attended my son's outdoor wedding a month later. Very little PT required. He replaced my left knee as well. Because of MY procrastination there wasn't enough "knee cap" left to place the "button" on the underside (mimics cartilage) but there is no pain & I have complete ROM. I didn't have a good fitness level prior; so PT was lengthy & still requires regular strength training. A++++
