Dr. Monk saved my life. I was in the best shape of my life when I was diagnosed with Stage 3C epithelial ovarian cancer in November 2013. I saw him on a Monday, he did surgery on Tuesday, followed by chemo and a biologic x 2 years. He is patient centered and gives 150% when he operates and treats. He is a gift to gynecological oncology and you can't ask for a better surgeon, practicing physician, researcher or man. Thank you Dr. Monk.

21 years ago Dr. Monk operated on me for ovarian cancer. His surgical skills saved my life. The biopsy showed I had the rarest form of ovarian cancer and he decided on an extreme chemotherapy regime because it was not known how to treat this form of cancer. I owe him my life.

Arrogant doctor who is impressed with his multiple accomplishments. Violates Patient confidentiality. Staff is rude, they do not introduce self to patient and lack compassion or empathy. Infusion room is chaotic with nursing confused by treatment orders and forgetting labs or medication ordered. Dr Monk is frequently not available due to travel and or other commitments. Dr Monk degrades other doctors to make himself look good.

I was referred to Dr. Monk by my gynecologist after my doctor was concerned that a large cyst I had might be cancerous. Dr. Monk, my husband and I met to discuss options. We immediately felt at ease with him, He was very open to my concerns. We settled on an approach, and he made an appointment for surgery happen quickly. The day of surgery, we met before the procedure. His demeanor made me very confident that I was in extremely good hands. Dr. Monk did a phenomenal job throughout the surgery.

Cocky. Students are more important than patients. If female students are present, then he is most present. Male students? Cocky and arrogant. Staff is horrible. He defends them and we never get any resolution. Hard to trust your life to someone like this.

This man CANCELLED my last round of chemotherapy (the minimum required for my type of ovarian cancer), because we did not agree with his recommendation of getting radiation therapy (still considered experimental for Stage 1A and my insurance would not pay for it). He left me high and dry and we had to scramble to find another Oncologist to administer my last and final round. We have filed a complaint with the AZ Medical Board against Dr. Monk.
