Plagiarized notes from 2 years ago
TL; DR After checking my medical chart, I noticed that he copied and pasted the exact notes from a visit I had over 2 years ago with another doctor. Except the SIBO possibility.I came in complaining of severe abdominal distension and pain. I said, after weeks of pain and bloating, it started causing constipation; he ignored me when I repeatedly said the constipation was just the most recent symptom. Despite the Resident saying that I could have motility problems or SIBO, Dr. Tarlow shot all of it down when I brought it up because 'my symptoms don't fit'. He also asked why I wasn't seeing multiple doctors again instead of him (insurance changes) and told me I should find a doctor that could help me systemically; but he won't let me see any other provider at his practice for a second opinion. I said antibiotics helped recently and he suggested antidepressants and refused to consider further antibiotic treatment.

Put me right at ease!
I went in for a follow up colonoscopy and Dr. Tarlow was professional, thorough in his explanations and has a great sense of humor. One in a million! I couldn't ask for more from a physician.

When did he review your chart?
My husband spent hours completing the required documentation for his endoscopy. An esophageal cancer survivor who has had an esophagectomy, it is important that any surgeon performing an endoscopy considers the differences in his anatomy as compared to a healthy esophagus. His oncologist referred him for this procedure as indicated for survivors of his type of cancer. Research in the field of gastroenterology REQUIRES review of notes prior to planning or scheduling of surgical procedures. In fact, research suggests that record review four days prior to surgery significantly improves patient outcomes. Is that what you can expect from Dr. Tarlow? It certainly wasn't our experience. In our world, we have to prepare for our required tasks. You would think when someone's life is at stake that preparation would be an imperative. Instead, it seemed as though Dr. Tarlow did not bother. Only minutes before the procedure, the appointment was cancelled because Tarlow was not prepared. Fail!

Dr. Tarlow was very kind and friendly, with a great sense of humor. He was caring and very informative about the procedure, want to make sure you knew what the procedure was and how it was going to be handled. I felt he really cared about his patients and their comfort.
