Our daughter recently suffered a postpartum stroke. Through a series of events, she ended up at WakeMed main campus under the care of Dr. Burnsed. He is absolutely amazing. He is kind and compassionate, thorough in explanations, transparent in his delivery of care, and God sent. He performed a procedure on her to give her a chance at life and, even though he had never performed it before and there were, in his words, no guidelines to the procedure. I felt confident in Dr. Burnsed and trusted him. By the grace of God, he was successful with the procedure. With God's blessing and guidance, Dr. Burnsed literally saved our daughter's life. There are not enough words to express our gratitude.

How cared about his patients and care for their input with the surgery that is needed and he explained everything so well and made you feel comfortable

This surgeon is such a nice person. I have had few surgeons that instilled so much trust. He will explain what is wrong and what his plans are in as little or as much detail as his patient needs. He does not rush your visit and he seems attentive to not only your physical body but how you feel emotionally too. He will try to help you work through your anxiety with confidence. I was very happy in his care and with his assistant, PA Ms. Mouw. I believe he told me he did not do minimally invasive surgery so you end up with a larger scar, but Miss Mauw does a very nice suture. :) They also made sure that my pain was under control which was very important to me. Dr Burnsed is very dedicated to his patient's care. He performed my spine surgery at WakeMed. His satellite office was in Goldsboro, NC

Dr Burnsed is an excellent Neurosurgeon. He is very warm and caring. He takes the time to explain everything to you and he answers all of your questions. I think he is honest and he encourges you to want to get better.

I have been an extremely difficult case, But Dr Burnsed and Sara have been with me all the way, always listen to my concerns. Easy to talk yo, never feel dismissed they take there time. I cant imagine seeing anyone else. I have received better care and attentiveness from this staff than any PCP. Hoghly recommend

I absolutely recommend Dr. Burnsed as a surgeon who works extremely complicated cases such as mine. In hindsight, I did not exactly request him as my neurosurgeon. Why? Because I was transferred to WakeMed ER from Cary WakeMed ER, via ambulance with multiple fractures to the L1 spinal vertebrae and surrounding myelin (the tough covering that protects the spinal cord from injury). The injury was so severe that other hospitals in the area simply did not have the knowledge and experience to repair me. I could have lost the ability to walk, urinary continence, and other bodily functions I took for granted. I was terrified by the thought that I may not walk hand in hand with my little boy, again. Dr. Burnsed was assigned to my case because of his expertise and previous successes with traumatic neurological injury patients like me. He and his team literally put me back together again. There are no words to adequately convey the thankfulness of my family and I.

Dr. Burnsed was my father’s surgeon and we could not have asked for a better person. Dr.Burnsed was extremely through in explaining everything (more than once) to my father and I. He was very compassionate and comforting to my father and I during such a scary time. It is obvious that Dr. Burnsed values his work, his patients and has high morals. He took his time talking to us in his office, after surgery or on the phone...we never felt rushed. I highly recommend Dr. Burnsed to anyone seeking treatment. I am forever grateful.
