Didn’t seem to know remember what was going on with my son each time I talked to him. Look to other doctors to make any decisions very disappointed.

Very difficult physician to communicate with and get answers from. After 2 years of being treated by him, my son felt like Dr. Hayes-Lattin didn't even know who he was. We frequently got a response of , "I don't know" when asking questions. We ended up firing this oncologist in the middle of my son's treatment. Evidently we were not the first patients to do so, and we have heard that many others have fired him since.

Dr. Hayes-Lattin is not an incompetent doctor. The problem is he does the bare minimum necessary for his patients. I was under his care for several years for ALL in which I did receive the necessary treatments. However, the side effects - both physical and emotional - were not handled well. He is very dismissive of your concerns. I would not recommend him if you really want to feel listened to and understood during your treatment.

I had a poor experience. It was confusing, because all the information I had researched said he was an expert in young adult cancer issues, but it didn’t seem to be true. He was dismissive of any concerns or needs, and his most common answer was “Sorry, that’s not my job.” It really seemed like he didn’t care, and just wanted to invest minimum effort. He also doesn’t explain things well and becomes impatient if there are a lot of questions.

Dr Hayes-Lattin is a pathetic excuse for a human being. Although he's knowledgeable, it became clear that he is apathetic. Multiple instances of him failing to order blood tests, then waving me off with a 'oh I didn't have my act together today' and a smirk showed me just how unprofessional he is. Despite my mother/caregiver being present at every visit, he never talked to her or looked at her. During my many weeks inpatient getting transplants/immunotherapy he came to see me twice in total.

Dr. Hayes-Lattin at first was amazing and helpful he answered all questions. As the weeks went on we still felt very supported but this seemed to be because of his ASSISTANT and all her hard work, After his assistant left OHSU it became very apparent that he had been verbally abusing his staff members and that he only cared about our treatment while in the first stages. Once you hit "maintenance chemo" and are having issues he will brush them off and not remember anything about your care.
