Dr. Brandon Howard, MD

Rude and condescending, absolutely no bedside manner. Attending to my father at Holy Name while primary was on vacation. Staying on case I guess for insurance to continue to pay him. Requested that primary remove him immediately.

He was my attending physician in the hospital. He took the time to explain what was going on and if I needed anything to let him know. An all around nice guy.

After a recent inpatient procedure, Dr. Howard was the attending physician, who was unable to be reached when nursing would call for follow-up orders resume food. Nurses on shift were frustrated when they would call and text Dr. Howard and there was no response. It took over 14 hours to get an order that meals can resume. Over 48 hours passed before a doctors visit and when confronted, Dr. Howard reported there was a miscommunication with covering doctor. Really? What did you do with the phone calls and texts when you received them? Did you contact your covering doctor? Totally irresponsible.

Dr B Howard makes you feel welcome & that that he cares. He made me feel very comfortable & be able to talk about anything that's going on with you. Most Dr are stuffy,and obnoxious, and rush you in & out the office! This man takes his time with you, ask you do you have any concerns or questions, & explains situations that you can understand. He is a 1 of a kind Dr, & strongly recommended

I met Dr. Howard 12 years ago. I was very doubtful to survive open chest surgery due to complications with both lungs. I was in the hospital for 3 weeks. From Halloween to Thanksgiving was a blur. Everyday I was defying the odds. Virtually every morning Dr. Howard would ask how am I doing (He was not my doctor yet). I said, I need a GI just like you. He said "you got it!" I was on pain killers so I forgot I asked him the day before and Dr. Howard patiently answered OK! I am a healthier person and a better person just for seeing what an angel does. Dr Howard was my mom's attending physician during her stay at Hackensack university medical center in Hackensack. Other than an initial call from him when my mom was admitted and one room visit there was no follow-up communication from him. During the initial call I had asked a question that he didn't know the answer and he said that he would get back to me. The follow-up never occurred and no notes were left for the nurses to communicate back to us. My mom was at the hospital for 8 days. His nurse practitioner, Paulette, called once and was very terse. She seemed bothered by questions. Cost cutting at the hospital has restricted physician choice as physician privileges have been reduced. My mother's primary physician used to have privileges there. That being said about reduced choices, I would still advise that you switch attending physician if he is assigned.

One star review. Doctor is unavailable to provide updates on care, or to answer any questions. When reaching out, he gets one of his junior staff to call back, who give vague responses because they don't know the answers

Very little contact because he was hard to get a hold of. You never get him personally but you get his answering service
