Good for a second opinion
Went to Dr. Carmack for cataract surgery and lens implants. I was told it would correct the vision to 20 20. Still can not see up close without a very bright lite, my far vision corrected to 20 25. (I should be wearing glasses while driving). Interaction with the staff left me feeling most was marginally trained, with one exception. On my scheduled appointment I was called and advised earlier appointment was available, When arriving at the office told not confirmed. I left and have not been back. BEFORE COMMITTING GET A SECOND OPINION.

Excellent
Dr. Carmack is an exceptional ophthalmologist and cataract surgeon. The removal of my cataract and the implantation of my intraocular lenses were life changing and I now have perfect vision both near and far. Helps tremendously during a game of tennis or a round of golf to actually be able to see the ball! Thank you Dr Carmack for your excellent care and amazing surgical skills. So glad that I chose you to be my eye surgeon.

Great Eye Care
Dr. Carmack was comprehensive and thorough in his assessment of my cataracts, and timely with the solution. He was informative as he answered my many questions throughout the process. I can't recommend him any higher. If you live in Pinellas County, this is the Ophthalmologist for you.

Quality Vision Care
I have been a patient of Dr. Carmack for over 9 years. Honestly, can't understand the negative reviews on this website. He and his staff are very professional, courteous and attentive to me. He takes the time to explain everything, does a thorough examination and makes sure my eyes remain healthy. Over 3 years ago he did cataract surgery on both my eyes, with implants, which eliminated the need for glasses or contacts that I had worn all my life, not to mention eliminating my astigmatism. Everything from surgery to recovery went smoothly and since then I have had no issues with my vision. I would definitely recommend him and his office for your vision care.

Trust him with your eyes.
My eye doctor is Dr. Carmack. If you need an eye doctor, you need to get him. He was beyond perfect. I had a surgery and he talked to me before the surgery to discuss options. He listened to me and was so kind to me.

Great doctor!
My eyesight was blurry and I couldn’t see anything close and had to wear glasses. He gave me options as to what to do and also prices. I can now see better than I’ve ever saw before. I can see the leaves on the trees and how green everything is I can also see up close and not need glasses. This is a great doctor.

Retired
As your 1st assistant for almost 15 years, I can attest to your care and concern and to your great ability to diagnose and your surgical skills. Because of all of that you do have a very busy schedule and give each patient the attention that they need. Your staff has always been more than pleasant and do there best to fit people in but there are only so many hours in a day!! “ the old eye nurse”PS, I can understand this person’s frustration but it is truly unwarranted as none of the staff is lazy or rude!

I can still see in left eye thanks to Dr Carmack
I just got my 4th laser treatment due to the pressure being too high in both my eyes. Now the pressure is back to normal thanks to Dr Carmack's laser treatment. 3 years ago he diagnosed my left eye as going thru diabetic retinopathy. If left untreated my left eye would have gone blind. Thank you very much Dr. Carmack

I've accompanied by daughter and granddaughter for 3 of her appointments. He is cold and brash and we are good and fed up. Never again. For the record, my daughter was 100% compliant with the at-home directions, so she has no reason to be intimidated and yelled at. His sarcasm and negative talk has no place in the medical field, let alone in pediatrics. Find a more compassionate doctor.

Dr Brent carmack performed my corrective eye muscle surgery and it was a nightmare. I was in excruciating pain for 6 days and he did the opposite of what any other doctor would have done. I went to see him the very next day because of the sever pain, he accused me of being a "chicken when it comes to pain," he accused me of being on recreational drugs, he screamed and yelled at me the whole time and he KICKED me OUT of his office. It's the most severe case of patience negligence I have ever experienced. At the one-week follow up, he apologized for his behavior in one of those "sorry but not sorry" child like kind of ways. He took credit for the diminished pain but I got better DESPITE him not BECAUSE of his assistance. The pain, suffering and agony I went through, I would not wish on my worst enemy, except maybe on him. Supposedly, he doesn't believe in prescribing pain medication. My head felt like I was shot in the eye, if pain medication is not designed for that.

This group is not advanced in medical technology. In Oct 2022, I discovered I needed cataract surgery. However, decades ago I had vision corrective surgery so to avoid the use of glasses post cataract I need a lens called LAL. Dr Brent carmack said all he could offer was the basic cataract lens & I would need glasses for near & far distances. He never offered the LAL lens. So I asked questions about this & he said they do not have this lens! What?!! I thought St Luke's Institute was the most technologically advanced group in the area. NO. BTW, the LAL lens was approved back in 2019. I paid my copay yet I received a bill from them for $50. more. I called them to resolve this since they are not able to provide the medical care I need & it's been 3 weeks with no resolution.

I went to Dr. Brent Carmack for my cataracts and they were TERRIBLE. I had to wait a week after my appointment because he was so busy and didn't have time to see me. When I finally saw him, he told me that there wasn't anything wrong with my eyes and that it was just a coincidence that the same thing happened to both sets of eyes. He gave me some pills but they didn't work at all, so I went back for more pills and still nothing happened. I ended up having to go back to another doctor who took care of me much quicker than Dr. Carmack did—it was less than two weeks from when I originally scheduled my appointment until we got into surgery!

I recently visited Dr. Brent for an eye exam and was extremely disappointed with the level of care and service provided. From the moment I walked in, I felt rushed and unimportant. The staff was unfriendly and seemed uninterested in my concerns. During the exam, Dr. Brent seemed preoccupied and didn't take the time to thoroughly explain the results or answer my questions. The equipment used for the exam also seemed outdated and made me question the accuracy of the results. I left feeling like I received a subpar level of care and would not recommend Dr. Brent or their practice to anyone.

I was very unhappy with the outcome of my surgery performed by this ophthalmologist. The procedure was not as smooth as I was led to believe, and I had many complications afterwards. The follow-up care provided was inadequate and left me feeling unassisted. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone

Dr. Brent Carmack performed a cataract procedure on me in November of 2021. That procedure was corrected with a second operation by a different surgeon. - Brent performed the procedure using an Alcon lens with a diopter measurement of 2.0 - At final evaluation, I was told I needed glasses for the first time in 20 years to achieve 20/20 vision. Additionally, I had the feeling of a contact lens in my eye, as well as seeing the dark edge of the implant lens when I looked to the side. Note: During pre-op consultation with Brent, I informed him my priority was returning to my 20/20 vision. - My procedure results were not acceptable, leaving me with only a slight improvement in farsighted clarity but requiring glasses. - My second opinion Eye-Surgeon's prescription was a diopter strength of 22.5 (not 2.0) as was the third opinion. - The Eye Surgeon who corrected Brent’s work used a 22.5 diopter lens. I am now seeing a perfect 20/20 without glasses and without Brent.
