I have been a patient of Dr. Ray's for many years. I will be leaving his practice to find a new doctor. I don't trust him anymore. He doesn't seem to listen to my concerns, he and his staff are poor communicators, and I commonly have to check his suggestions and diagnosis with research and other sources. Most recently, he told me to stop a drug cold turkey. I have yet to find a source that says it is wise to stop this drug cold turkey. Very frustrating and not professional in my opinion. With the number of good doctors out there, it doesn't make sense to stick with one you don't trust.

A Doctor Who Takes His Time
When finding a PCP, I believe I have found a lifelong Doc in Dr. Ray. He was easy to converse with, took time with me to truly understand that we are not merely a set of symptoms and clinical protocols. He took the most thorough history I have experienced even when seeing specialists. Empathy, and having a conversational dialogue about my health concerns is important for someone dealing with chronic issues that span decades. Often, PCPs get so myopic on how to increase patient volume, and the 'care' goes out the window. I would trust Dr. Ray with my family, friends, and co-workers. Truly one of the best docs in Linn County and the Cedar Rapids metro. Thanks Doc!

Diagnosis was way off, he seemed in a hurry , didn’t run any tests. I visited my PCP to get the right diagnosis, this doctor was a fill in on the west side urgent care and I wouldn’t recommended him at all.

Dr. Ray needs to be more thorough when a patient is sick! First, over a year, Dr. Ray was treating me for an illness that I didn't have. He didn't read the records from my asthma doctor, Dr. Ray said,I had copd and prescibed me an expensive inhaler for it for over a year! He told me that I need to be careful with my lungs because I have copd. I told Dr. Ray, I don't have copd, he said, you do too. I told him that I don't. He opened the record , you are right, you don't have copd.
