Dr. Byuong Ryu, MD

Nov 24 yearly visit for pap and patient complaining of lower abdominal pain for 6 months. Exam and ultrasound performed. While on the examination table naked from waist down patient questioned continuing maintenance of medicine that the office had prescribed for 5 yrs. RYU became upset, walked over and opened the exam office door and told patient to leave if she didn't like it. To date, Feb. 2025, office has refused to release the results of the ultrasound and patient's records. Patient has a history of cancer and there is family history of ovarian cancer. Patient has filed a complaint w NYS Professional Conduct for patient harassment and intimidation while totally naked, abandonment of patient in need of immediate care and failure to release patient's medical records and ultrasound, all in violation of NY's Professional Code of Ethics and HIPPA regulations.

I HAD MY YEARLY VISIT IN THE FALL 2024 WITH DR RYU SINCE MY DR PASSED AWAY. I WAS ON THE TABLE IN PAPER GOWN WHEN DR RY STORMED IN. HE ROUGHLY DID THE EXAM AND WHILE ON THE TABLE I TOLD HIM I WANTED TO CONTINUE ON THE MAINTENANCE MEDICATION THAT DR LOFTUS HAD ME ON FOR YEARS. HE SCREAMED 'NO I WILL NOT BE CONTINUING IT AND WALKED OVER AND OPENED THE DOOR AND LOUDLY STATED THAT IF I DID NOT LIKE IT I COULD LEAVE.' I WAS FLOORED. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF FILING THE APPROPRIATE MEDICAL COMPLAINT FORMS WITH APPROPRIATE STATE AGENCIES.

I have been a patient at this office for almost 5 years, and I’ve had nothing but issues. Dr Ryu never is clear with you on what he is doing at your appointment. I was told I didn’t need a pap, and therefore did not get one. Then a week later I get a call that my pap came back abnormal and that I had HPV. I had to go for a colposcopy which came out normal. I got a second opinion from my PCP, and my pap came back normal and the HPV test came back negative. This office and staff constant gaslight me, and do not listen to their patients. They are rude over the phone with the exception for a few nurses. Absolute terrible experience, they should be embarrassed to be in healthcare. As someone who works in healthcare myself, I would NEVER recommend this practice or Dr. Ryu to anyone-not even my worst enemy.

This doctor cut an unnecessary episiotomy during a completely routine delivery without my knowledge or consent. His cut extended and tore into my sphincter. I spent many years seeking treatment for resulting incontinence. Today I live with a permanent colostomy as a direct result of his actions. At the time this happened, I was married to a resident Ob physician. If this doctor would treat the wife of one of his resident physicians this way, how do you think he will treat a patient who is a complete stranger? He was never honest about the extent of the injury he caused. He never apologized or acknowledged any fault. The last words he said to me were “It can be fixed.” He was very wrong.

Very knowledgeable. Caring. Takes time to ask about my whole health. Delivered my second son. Would not want anyone else.

Dr Ryu was amazing. I was told I needed an open hysterectomy and went to him for a second opinion. He was able to complete my hysterectomy with robot assisted laparoscopy. I am one week postop and I feel great! I am so thankful I found him ! I highly recommend Dr Ryu!

Wonderful staff and exceptional Doctor!

Dr. Ryu and his staff of nurses are nothing short of exceptional . I have been a patient of the practice for over 15 years ...they have seen me through 2 pregnancies, a major surgery, and everything in between. I never feel like “just another number” when I’m with Dr. Ryu or his nurses. They are always kind, compassionate, and fun, all while giving top notch medical care . Wouldn’t want to go anywhere else??
