Dr. Caleb Hedberg, DO

Dr. Caleb Hedberg and I met for my annual wellness exam. He is curteous, friendly and most importantly, knowledgeable of all aspects of medicine. He listens well. I am very please to be under his medical care.

I've been seeing Dr. Hedberg as my primary care physician for five years now. He has a solid well-rounded knowledge basis to treatment plan, and identify issues that need to be referred out of his office to a specialist. If you are reading this review, you'll be in great hands with Dr. Hedberg.

Dr. Hedberg is a great doctor. He really knows his stuff, and is also humble enough to admit that he doesn't know everything-but he knows where to find more (if your doctor acts like they know it all, they're bluffing). He is very compassionate, listens to my concerns, and clearly cares about me as a person, and isn't just trying to churn through as many patients as he can. Sometimes that means he is running late, but I know that it is always for a good reason (like another patient in a crisis). I especially appreciate how he aims for holistic care; he starts with lifestyle and long-term modifications like diet and exercise before jumping to pharmaceutical "solutions" (though he isn't a "woo" doctor-he will certainly prescribe medication as needed). He is trying to improve my overall health, not put a bandaid on my problems-and sometimes that means telling me things I don't want but need to hear. If you're just looking for a quick and easy solution he might not be the doctor for you.

Misdiagnose and it was cancer. I saw Dr. Caleb Hedberg August 2020 (see review below, Sept. 2020). At the time I brought up a growth on my back. He looked at it and said it was a pimple. I explained it was getting bigger and I wasn't able to squeeze anything out of it. He was unconcerned. At the urging of my wife I went to a Dermatologist Sept. 2021 and the biopsy came back as Basal Cell Cancer. I had my surgery two weeks ago, they cut out a pretty big area and put in 6 stitches. I'm not sure if it's a lack of knowledge or if Dr. Hedberg just rushes too much. I have found another Dr. and have my annual physical coming up. I cannot stress enough that you should avoid him at all cost. That cost could be cancer. Thanks for reading

I am extremely disappointed. I sent my 20 yr old son to see Dr Hedberg based on how great Dr Hedberg Sr was. My son came home devastated from his visit today feeling shamed by the dr. Also, he said he was rushed through the appt after waiting 20 min to see him. This is the worst outcome for a parent to have my adult son come home feeling this way after visiting a Dr and trying to advocate for himself. I hope his bedside manner can improve so this doesn’t happen to other young adults. Very, very sad about this experience. Needless to say we are starting over and hope to have a more humane visit with a different doctor. Our family has had a wonderful experience with other physicians at this practice so I’m a bit shocked to say the least.

"Young Dr. Caleb" has huge shoes to fill in taking over his Dad's patients. I managed physician groups for 30+ years, and John Hedberg is one of the finest PCPs I've encountered. That said, I have found Caleb to be very responsive and engaged, and I believe he is a good partner and advocate for my health. I've had a couple of physicals and he was very thorough and touched on each of my health issues. When I have needed a referral, he sent me to great specialists who were easy to appoint. When I communicated via the online portal, I've always gotten an immediate response. New West Physicians has done a good job during the pandemic, they have strict protocols in place. Like all new physicians, Dr Hedberg will need some time to develop and hone his practice operations. At the same time, he comes from good stock and has excellent interpersonal skills, is a good listener and receptive to my thoughts.

I have to give Dr. Caleb Hedburg not a great review. I had been seeing his dad for 22 yrs. and figured his would be as good a doctor as his father. No so! He was very preoccupied and hardly gave me his time. This was my first time meeting him, and after many years of good health, he quickly reviewed my file and made me feel like I was in terrible health. I tried to ask him questions, but he just rushed me through and didn't seem to have the time. I waited for 25 min. before he came in to give me my check up which lasted about 10 min. I won't be returning as I don't need to feel like my primary doc. doesn't care about me.

This was my first time seeing Dr. Caleb Hedberg after seeing his dad for many years. My physical was for 8AM and he did not arrive in the room until 8:15. Not that big of deal. sAfter about 10 minutes of discussing my lab results and a couple other things I said I had some things I wanted to talk about. He said it would have to be quick, he was running late. I was told to ask them while he was examining me. After the exam on the table he asked if I would give him permission for a prostate check. I passed on it so I could ask about the items I was concerned about. After a quick couple minutes he was headed to the door he said thanks Marcus (not my name). What the heck!!! He had already pulled up the next patients record and was looking at that. When the nurse came in to give me a tetanus shot I asked how long I get for a physical and she said 30 minutes. I was with the doctor less than 20 minutes. If I didn't have questions not a big deal. Value your health see someone else

I really liked this doctor, but he cannot keep to his scheduled appointments. Last year he suggested I do a back readjustment, so I scheduled one with him. The night before the appointment (like literally 13 hours before), the doctor's secretary called me to cancel and reschedule. If I had done that, I would have been charged a fee. The soonest available appointment was many weeks out! Again, I had an appointment scheduled Dr. Hedberg. Today, the doctor's secretary called me to say that AGAIN, he cannot make my appointment. It is hard enough finding healthcare in Colorado. Save yourself some time and find yourself another doctor, one that sticks to his appointments.

Thorough, well-mannered, practical, likable.
