Good Doctor with a Staff Problem
My wife and I have been seeing Dr. Pop for over 5 1/2 years. He's very thorough in his approach to medicine combining traditional medicine with supplements, depending on the patient's age and conditions. The problem with this practice (and the basis of my low rating) is the staff, particularly the leader of it, Jeanine Maurer. The turnover is extensive and current new staff communicates as though they are frustrated, overworked and, to quote one of them, too often barked at by staff leadership, Ms. Mauer. Ms. Mauer has even overruled the refilling of a vitamin prescription issued by Dr. Pop and then went to great lengths to prevent direct communications with Dr. Pop about it when the question arose. Sadly, we can't work with such a chaotic practice. One other issue with this practice is the conflict presented by selling their supplements, that are often available at much lower costs elsewhere.

Dr. Pop is highly educated and has written several books on health. He is caring to his patients and staff, who have been with him for years. Never rushed, listens and answers any questions you may have. A unique Dr indeed.

Dr. Pop is rude and arrogant. He doesn’t examine patients but reads reports from all the testing he requires. If you question him, he gets nasty. He’s more focused on selling his supplements than actually providing care. Whenever I told him a symptom, he asked, “ What do you want me to do? Do you want a test?” He kept me on pain meds because he misread my x-ray, delaying essential surgery (and relief) for more than 4 months. Absolute nightmare of a doctor!

Went to Dr. Pop for a year and liked him all EXCEPT for the fact that he would never touch you. He would not TOUCH you! He would be on his computer alot but would never feel your glands, look down your throat, feel your stomach, listen to your heart, NOTHING. Absolutely no contact whatsoever. I always find that strange about a doctor. There is more to 'doctoring' than just talking to a patient. I miss the old days when doctors were 'different.' Better, I guess. Nowadays it's voicemail instead of a human answering the phones, no physical contact with the doctor, etc. They just don't make em like they used to!

I called 2 times to make a new patient appointment and was told that someone would call me back. NO contact was made. Not a very good first impression for a new patient. I called a different Dr’s office and have an appointment for tomorrow. I often wonder if the Dr is aware of what their staff is doing or not doing that is a reflection on his office?

I had been seeing Dr Pop for a couple of years and have seen him lose his temper before but never on me until now and let me tell you how unprofessional and rude he can be. Don’t question what he says because apparently you shouldn’t have a opinion on your own body and if you question or disagree he’ll send you a letter telling you he can no longer be your doctor well I say GOOD RIDDANCE!

I found Dr Pop by searching the internet for good doctors in Spring Hill, Fl, after my previous Primary Care Physician was doing nothing more than prescribing drugs and referring me to other specialists in the Practice that he and his family owns. Dr Pop received great reviews, so I switched to him as my PCP (Primary Care Physician) provider. He immediately took me off my Metformin and Basaglar injections for diabetes. I complained to my Previous PCP that metformin gave me intestinal cramps and bloating, and he said “tough, it is the cheapest most effective drug for Type II diabetes”. Dr Pop’s book about Type II diabetes (you need to read this book!) explains that this type of diabetes is not an insulin problem but 100% a diet problem, due to sugar and carbohydrates. I have to say that he is 100% correct. I have been controlling my sugar levels with diet alone.

Hey there world! If you are looking for an extremely thorough and awesome geriatric doctor, Dr. Pop is the doctor for you! At my first visit we hardcore discussed my medical issues and made a plan. If you follow his plan your health will be at it's high score! He doesn't just speak in doctor he breaks everything down in normal human speak. I am so glad that I've found this facility! Not only is the doctor the best, but his staff is very efficient and cheerful! I wish I had this kind of doctor when I was in New York! Thank you so much Dr. Pop for restoring my health, now I have energy to play with my grandson! -CeeDee

Dr. Pop"s practice is truly the highest quality medical care available in this region of Florida. After years of being disappointed with other practitioners I was fortunate to find Dr. Pop and his very caring staff. My health has flourished under his guidance and I can honestly say I have never felt better in my life. He listens carefully to develop a treatment plan that provides a personal prescription for outstanding health. I am committed to following his advice for my continued wellness.

Dr. Pop is an amazing doctor! If you want a doctor that takes the time to explain what is going on with you, he is the one. He orders necessary tests to figure out what is wrong or right with you. Prior to this, my care was mediocre (from typical textbook medicine approach). Dr. Pop is very intelligent, precise, kind and compassionate. I have a doctor I can trust to give me the very best care a person could have. Also, his staff is absolutely awesome-they are worth their weight in gold!

I have been a patient with Dr. Pop for two years. I have never in 60 years been treated with the concern and respect that I have encountered at his office. His staff is a great testimonial to his leadership. They are friendly, efficient, professional and show concern for each other as well as the patients. The medical advice that Dr. Pop gives is amazing. He is fearless, and intelligent. Having come from a family of physicians , I was cynical at best. His books and vitamins are great!

Dr. Pop will assist you in managing your own healthcare. He is very thorough, takes his time & listens to your issues. So make a list & be ready. Recommendations are sound, logical & he is not a pill pusher. If you are looking for a great Dr. who helps you get to the bottom of your real health & maintenance issues look no further. But be ready to do as he says, keep your appointments, bring in all your meds every time because Dr. Pop & staff are logging everything you take or need. 55+ only.

We moved to fl & I did not have a internist so I looked on healthgrades & I found Dr Pop. I saw him on the first visit & after a EKG he saw something irregular. He did more tests on me that all came back positive. I had a stent put in. If it was not for Dr pop seeing my problem I may not be here now. He took the time to go over all my tests & offered what steps to take. I would highly recommend him.

The Dr. Is great but the office manager is very unpleasant if you see a mistake she made . She messed up our insurance so we were over charged and then did not do anything about it. I had to do it even though it was her mistake and I had tried to point it out.
