Dr. Calvin Beck, MD

I found him to be concerned about his pay, his vacations, and his children. About me as a patient, not so much. I was his patient for a year, and I had misgivings from the moment I met him. The waits were terrible. He made a pretty serious mistake on my medical records that I had to inform him about. He wouldn't listen to me when I had concerns. My gut feeling was to drop him, and I so wish I had listened to my gut feeling. I didn't, and then I almost had a disaster. Listen to your gut with this guy.

This doctor is horrible. Avoid if possible. Our mother is losing her memory, and showing signs of dementia, but Dr. Beck, will not diagnose. She's hardly able to make it through the day. Instead of assisting us with In-Home care, resident home referrals, handicap stickers, etc,.... He Instead prescribes that she moves in with her kids. Even wrote that in her medical records. Not very professional.

I went to see Dr. Beck as a primary care provider. My first visit went alright, but when I went in to review my lab results I was shocked at the level of care I received. Dr. Beck kept me waiting in the room for a long while, only to show up and speed through my results without giving me a chance to ask questions. My results weren't great, so I had questions on how to improve before our follow-up in a few months. Dr. Beck left within five minutes of entering even though I was in the middle of asking questions. I wrote to Dr. Beck explaining my frustration with this. Upon his response I requested a consultation with a nutritionist since it didn't seem like he was willing to answer my questions still. I was told that I would be contacted by scheduling to get an appointment. Two weeks later I was sent a text that I needed to call the office and setup the appointment myself. I called the office immediately only to learn there was a staff meeting and no one would answer the phone.

I have seen Dr. Beck for a little over a year (would have been less but the pandemic made finding a PCP challenging). He is condescending, talks about his family and wife more than his patient. I complained of back pain and his solution was "45 min of yoga a day and lose 15 pounds". He begrudgingly provided my requested PT referral and gave me pain meds as a solution. He compared me to his wife and told me I could "be feeling as good as my wife, she's been doing yoga for 45 minutes a day for years and feels great, her back doesn't hurt at all!" He also alluded to masks ineffectiveness saying "this is a virus, masks don't do much to prevent viral spread." Additionally, I attempted to refuse to have my weight taken (since I was there for backpain d/t a decades old injury) and his nurse essentially forced me onto the scale. Will not return and I have warned as many of my friends as possible of this practice.

I felt safe seeing my doctor - was a yearly checkup. Before entry was given a questionnaire and some sanitizing lotion. All people were wearing masks. Only time I removed mine was to take my temperature. Dr. Beck was great - answered any questions I had.

This was just a followup visit for me so it was great to be able to do it virtually. I have gone to Dr. Beck for ~ 20 years so this is a great option for just some small follow up items.

Dr. Beck is a great doctor! He explains things so I can understand. College Park @ 119th Street is a great group of caregivers and they are all very courteous and helpful!

Dr. Beck is an excellent physician; I highly recmmend him. He is the most thorough family doctor I have experienced. He is kind, compassionate and a skilled diagnostician; a seasoned professional.

You could not ask for a better doctor, he very personable and thorough, he doesn't tell you what you want to hear, but what is best for you. Love my doctor

Dr. Beck has been my PCP for many years. He is organized, focused, loves his job with passion and is remarkably conversive describing your conditions, implications and treatment. I have search for a doctor for six years since moving to Overland Park, Kansas. Dr. Beck is the best I have even moved my father from his doctor to him. He is honest and a great family man I highly recommend his services .
