Incompetent
I was erroneously brought by ambulance to sub-par SSM St. Joseph Hospital Saint Charles ER after a clearly traumatic fall down a flight of stairs. A fall that resulted in a severely fractured wrist and humerus. This hospital is not a trauma center and Dr. Patten seemed befuddled upon my arrival. Despite my resounding opposition, he authorized placement of a sling on my right arm. The ER physicians at SSM SLU ER, where I was ultimately transferred, literally exclaimed expletives as they questioned the splint and tore it off of my arm — not one hour after it was applied. I was charged $300 for a sling that was removed within 60 minutes of application and was cursed by ER docs at SSM’s trauma ER. Dr. Patten bumbled around and seemed overwhelmed in the ER. He dismissed my wishes, cost me ridiculous amounts of money and was cursed by his ER counterparts at SSM SLU. I’d rather fend for myself than to ever end up at the sun-par St. Joseph (Saint Charles) hospital and in Dr. Patten’s “care”.
