Dr. Carlie Thompson, MD

I would rather live with metastatic cancer than see this doctor. Carlie, who has little experience past fellowship, stated she was capable of a lumpectomy. She left gross and obvious cancer after surgery. This is unacceptable. In the second procedure (I should have found a more qualified surgeon instead of going back to her) she stated I should get a reconstruction when she got the remaining positive margins. I told her no, I didn't think she could find them. She said she could. Well, she left more cancer in there again. You must return to the OR right away to get margins. She waited 3 months and sheepishly said she couldn't. When reading her reviews on other sites, note that one one of them, she had 1 review for years and then in 24 hours, she had 7. Do you think that's legit? She acts as a nice person, then when she made a mistake, she got really rude. She never saw me again. No doctor would take over her work. Think about that before choosing. This will be the end of me.

Dr. Carlie Thompson is a MIRACLE WORKER and a life saver. She is very talented, skillful, thoughtful, and very compassionate. She took time to explain in details of all the questions I had. She truly cares for her patients, not just physically but mentally as well. I had so many questions and she disected them bits by bits and presented to me all the options available. She never made me feel rushed and patiently guided me through every step of the way. I am very thankful to have Dr. Thompson as my Surgeon!!!Dr. Thompson was actually highly recommended to me by my best friend who is also a Doctor with UCLA. So, I have no doubt I made the right choice and luckily for me, I was able to get onto Dr. Thompson's busy calendar with ease. Her office staff is top notch as well. All her staff were kind, super friendly, and helpful with helping me get old scan results, reports, etc. Thank you, Dr. Thompson for all that you do, and for your great Team in your office!!!

Outstanding! When I was diagnosed, I was fearful to say the least, but when I met Dr. Thompson her compassion and reassurance while discussing the surgery somehow calmed me. I'm filled with gratitude for Dr. Thompson's caring spirit.

I consulted Dr. Thompson because I wound up having Breast cancer, 4 years after a double mastectomy (performed by different team of doctors). MRI showed I had an alarming amount of tissue remaining, which was what caused my new cancer (and being a BRCA mutation carrier).I am only 4 weeks out from surgery, and I have had such a positive experience. Way better than the original surgery! I have minimal cording, to the point where I don’t think I’ll even need therapy! I was also pleasantly surprised that there was no incision made in my armpit! How?!Dr. Thompson is a highly skilled surgeon, and I highly recommend her to anyone needing a breast specialist!

I don't often write reviews but when you feel as strongly as I do about my surgeon, I think telling other's is the responsible thing to do. I cannot imagine a better doctor than Dr Carlie Thompson. She is kind, caring, and loving but also fiercely intelligent and skilled at what she does. I came to her with a complicated case. She was like a friend to me through out, helping to explain things to me and support me. When it came time for my surgery, her expertise and empathy helped guide me to make the choices that were best for me. If you are dealing with breast cancer and looking for a surgeon, Dr Thompson is bar none the best out there.

I rarely post reviews, but given my experience with Dr. Carlie Thompson, I must! Dr. Thompson is an outstanding doctor whose medical talent, bedside manner and deep care for her patients is unparalleled! When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I was devastated as most people are; I was not prepared for the barrage of medicines & treatment options. Dr. Thompson broke down the information into bite-sized pieces that allowed me to digest the information in order to make the best decisions. She was kind, encouraging and literally held my hand for months as I faced surgery, chemotherapy & radiation. Dr. Thompson is a talented surgeon who truly put me back together. After my cancer diagnosis & treatment, my self-esteem was fragile. Dr. Thompson repaired me beautifully and was an emotional support as well. I was so appreciative of her expertise, care & support that I sent an email to the head of UCLA sharing my experience! Thank you, Dr. Thompson.

Dr. Thompson is a one of a kind doctor and surgeon. She had obviously reviewed my case in detail before seeing me (she had even reached out to another one of my doctors to ask a question about my situation!), and she listened to me attentively as I told her my story. She has been gentle, compassionate and calming during all of our interactions. She is clearly an expert in her field! Lastly, she did a meticulous job with my surgery.
