I have a new knee! About one year ago I needed a major surgery. Dr. Meheux did a great job, thoroughly explaining everything. Needed meds were prescribed. I am thankful we found him!

Uncaring, will only give steroids for pain
My husband has severe bone on bone hip pain. We visited an ER and we were given a weak pain medand a steroid for the pain. It was enough to get him through the two days until his appt. When we went to the office, Dr Meheux told us that my husband has significant bone on bone osteoarthritis in his hip. We told him that the pain was so bad that he hadn’t slept in 2 days and he needed something for pain so he could sleep at night. The response was that he NEVER prescribes opiates before surgery, only a much bigger dose of steroids to decrease inflammation which is what is causing the pain. Huh? So we asked if the prednisone would work within 12 hours so he could sleep and he didn’t know but that’s all he could do. He referred us to a pain management specialist which we can’t get in to see for over a week. Really? No compassion for a patient in SEVERE pain, just a suggestion to go back to the ER if there’s no improvement in the pain tonight. Worst doctor visit we have ever had.
