My wife was being evaluated for receiving a pain pump implant; It was a tele-consul via zoom. We were seeking a second opinion. My wife has been suffering from severe Chronic Pancreatitis pain and severe abdominal pain for over two years and is currently being evaluated for Cancer. In the beginning, Dr. Carmen Sanz seemed genuinely interested in helping her, however, she determined that my wife does not deserve to get the pain pump due to "cognitive" issues. Dr. Sanz never asked my wife if she knew what the pain pump was or how it would help her, she said in her letter/report that my wife did not understand the pain pump. I told Dr. Sanz that I was a very supportive spouse and that I am with her 24/7, but, this was not enough to clear my wife for the pain pump, thus CONDEMNING HER TO A LIFETIME OF PAIN. I don't think this is fair, how could a human being be left in pain just because she has some cognitive/memory issues if the patient has 24/7 support?? A DOG IS TREATED MORE HUMANLY!

Doctor Sanz takes her time and really tries to understand the problems that you are trying to discuss with her. Spanish is her first language, but she always knows what I am saying and listens very attentively. Her best quality, though, I would have to say is how much she cares and that you can't fake. It is either there or it isn't. And with Dr. Sanz it is totally there, she cares deeply and it shows in her voice and the way she treats you.
