Dr. Caroline Amao, MD

I have a chronic condition. Dr is very smart and listened to what my symptoms were. Doctor was very thorough. Great bedside manner. I was seen in the ER by this doctor in severe chronic pain with a rare condition.

After a terrible fall where I couldn't get up or put any weight on my right leg, and had to be taken to ER by ambulance. Was seen in ER, Dr. didn't listen, took forever. Did an x-ray, said nothing was broken and wanted to send me home even though I couldn't stand or bear any weight. Without the great nurse advocating for me, I don't know what I would have done. Nurse convinced the Dr to do a CT Scan which showed a possible torn quadricep tendon. The Doctor said she would then send a note to the outpatient clinic to set me up to see the Ortho specialist (which she didn't do, so after I later called outpatient to see what time my appointment was, I found out she hadn't let them know, so I couldn't get in there at all I had to find my own orthopedic surgeon). She still wanted to send me home without any assistive devices. Finally the Nurse convinced the Doctor to put a brace on the leg to give it some support and allow me to use crutches/walker until I could be see a specialist.
