Dr. Carrie Shulman did an amazing surgery on my back. I had 2 surgeries and my husband had 1. I LOVED Dr. Shulman but in August 2024 I had a followup appointment and she was not there. We have tried to locate her but couldn't. If anyone knows where she is, please let me know. If she is around and can see me, I would give her 5 stars but because I cannot reach her: 3 stars.

Stay away
After reviewing my images she told me I needed two surgeries and wanted me to schedule them immediately without giving me time to think about it. I got a second opinion and was told surgery wasn't needed. Two years later I'm doing well without ever having surgery. ALWAYS get a second opinion.

Unbelievable
I had the most disturbing interaction with Dr Shulman today concerning my mother's surgery. Never in my almost 50 years of life have I met a more unprofessional, condescending, and downright rude human and I worked at the DMV for 20 years. I can't even properly express how awful I felt for my mother for having to deal with Dr Shulman. My mom was actually in pre-op minutes away from surgery when Dr Shulam came to speak with her before her procedure, my mom expressed that she had been anxious about the surgery over the weekend and it went down hill from there. We ended up canceling the surgery and walking out.

A Doctor you can Trust!
Dr. Shulman is outstanding! Five stars is not high enough for her rating. She has all of the qualities that you would expect in an experienced doctor and a caring personality. I have experienced her skills through a double Laminectomy and Diskectomy due to severe Spinal Stenosis. I had bone spurs, herniated disks, complicated by osteoarthritis and inflammation. The operation was conducted at the Advanced Surgical Care of Clearwater flawlessly.

Disastrous Visit
Dr. Shulman displayed very little empathy and was dismissive of my trigeminal neuralgia TN pain issues. She seemed to be insulted that I had consulted a neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins. She did not understand why I had not come to her in the first place since she has been a practicing neurosurgeon for over 20 years. She proceeded with an attitude and asked what can I do for you? She is the doctor and I would think she should be able to tell me what I need for my TN issues. She did not even request an MRI for my brain issues to see if something else was going on and did a cursory exam. I would not recommend Dr. Shulman. She is rude and needs some people skill training.

Dr. Shulman is an exceptionally disappointing healthcare professional. Despite holding impressive credentials that suggest brilliance and expertise, her profound deficiency in therapeutic communication skills is glaring. Demonstrating a distinct lack of empathy towards patients, she dismisses both their concerns and those of their families. I would strongly discourage anyone from choosing Dr. Shulman for your family's medical needs, as she possesses a severe deficit in people skills. Intelligence alone does not suffice for a competent doctor, and in her case, the absence of essential communication skills makes her a truly subpar healthcare provider. Behind a facade of niceness, Dr. Shulman reveals her true colors when delivering unpleasant news, exhibiting a complete lack of empathy and resorting to a blunt and rude demeanor.

Terrible
We had a terrible experience with this doctor. She was very unprofessional. We tried to ask general questions and she got upset, kept cutting us off when we tried to talk and seemed extremely angry. From the time that we went to her, she came in the room either overly happy - almost hugging us or extremely angry. I would not recommend this doctor and especially for the serious nature of brain issues. I would not want to feel in question of her mood if I had surgery with her on one of her bad days. I noticed that she has a frequent turn over in staff and now I understand why.

Still Having Issues
The worst run office I’ve ever seen. My hip still kills me and the doctors office was a disaster never having the appointment time or responding. When you do get aholold of them you get a lot of attitude and never get what you need including imagining results. Dr shulman is arrogant and told me I was fine but had excruciating pain. I had two surgeries with her bc the first one she didn’t solve the issue and clearly didn’t take care of all the vertebrae that I was having issues with. Only a few months after the second surgery I am already having the same exact hip issues. I will never be going back to her but everyone should know that if you want to get better you should look elsewhere.

I made an appointment on May 10 for June 17, praying it would get here soon and my back would hold out without the excruciating pain I've had for 3 years. 3 days before the appointment, I received a text they didn't get the auth from my primary. Primary said it wasn't needed and called Shulman. Today, the day before my appointment. I received a call that they still didn't have the auth and my appointmentwas canceled. After a 10 minute hold, she suddenly found the answer and, no auth needed, except I couldn't be seen because Shulman had "emergency" surgery tomorrow afternoon. Wouldn't sn emergency be today's surgery? Then, the next excuse was that I didn't have an up to date MRI. Shouldn't that have been addressed BEFORE the appointment was made?? Oh, yes, it was!! I was told she would order one! I think there's alot of lying going on here.

Outstanding neurosurgeon! I had a colloid cyst of the third ventricle of the brain. I was transferred to 3 hospitals and ended up at the hands of Dr. shulman. She was excellent from beginning to end. I was in ICU for about 5 days, had endo-craniotomy to remove tumor and went home the next day. Recovery was tough, but not because of her, because it's brain surgery. She is calming, confident and re-assuring. So thankful I ended up in her care.

This is the second time I’ve used Carrie Shulman. In June 2016 she did a microdisectomy on my L5 S1 disc. In March this year 2020 it herniated again. There was only one neurosurgeon I wanted to go and see. June 19th I had a spinal fusion. Carrie Shulman takes the time to discuss all options with you. I would recommend her to anyone who needed to talk about option that needn’t be surgery related. You will get all the answers you need and her staff are just as wonderful!
