I had cataract surgery with Dr McCabe. She pushed mulit-focal lenses and told me that I would be extremely satisfied with them. She said that less than 1% have trouble with the Restore lenses. I had trouble from the first few weeks of the surgery. She said it was just swelling and the my eyesight would improve as the swelling from the surgery subsided. Well it didn't. My eyesight now is not good at all. I have extensive halos, and have trouble driving at night. I have always had good eyesight, until I went to Dr McCabe. In response to my concerns, I was told that I was just one of the 'unlucky 1%' and that was it. If you are considering using her, my advice is to run to another doctor, or at the very least, get a second opinion. Your eyesight is worth it. Please get a second opinion.........you do not want the results that I have to live with for the rest of my life.

Looking at waiting room , over 90% of patients are retired. I would be in the other 10%. I own a business. I've fired a Primary Care Doctor. A Dentist and now a Optomologist. If I can fill out tons of papers on line , numerous text and email reminders and more paper to be filled out on visit. She can be on time too.Lack of respect for patients time.

Condescending, rushed care
Awful experience having cataract surgery with Dr McCabe. First eye done, vision bad after. Saw her four times over e few weeks, every time she had a different diagnosis to explain my issues. (After surgery inflammation, then lens didn’t adhere to my eye, then cloudiness, then everything looked fine ). She suggested replacing the lens in first three visits, in fourth visit…said sternly that lens replacement was highly risky. She minimized my concerns, and clearly didn’t even remember me. And how could she….she sees multiple patients ..jammed into her schedule, and spends less than five minutes with each patient. Eye associates isn’t the same, you wait hours to see a dr, and they have no time for you. Dr McCabe would do well to think about her callus bedside manner and her line of patients waiting for respectful, attentive care.

She literally ruined my eyesight.
She was so know it all and did a lens replacement and the surgery was a nightmare. I was not numbed up enough. This was when she was first there. All doctors pushing lens replacement for cataract surgery should be ashamed of themselves. It works for a couple of years then the lens become worn and dont dilate your eyes properly so that bright light nearly blinds you. Also I walk into a room darker than the one I left and become almost blind because of my inability to see. Why in God's world didnt they know what would happen years later - Research a procedure for 20 years before performing it on people. I can honestly say the removal of the cataracts which was the original way of handling it was a much better solution than with lens replacement. She completely reversed my vision. I was nearsighted before the surgery and then farsighted after it. Now I can hardly see at all and I have talked with other people who have had the exact same experience.

Staff very unresponsive and difficult to reach
Dr McCabe was very professional and thorough. However the Eye Associates staff was extremely difficult to reach including customer care, prescriptions and scheduling. I could only leave a message. I called 11 times for assistance with a prescription over a week's time period. I finally canceled my cataract surgery because it was impossible to reach anyone by phone.

Very disappointed in my visit today to have laser treatment to correct cloudiness in right eye. I was told to be there by 6:15AM. I did. The Office was not open and there 5 people waiting outside. Finally someone opened the door at 6:20. I waited over an hour before they called my name. They put drops in my eyes, sent me into another waiting room and told me to keep both eyes SHUT. There I found more disgruntled patients with eyes closed who had been waiting too long. An hour later they took me back for the procedure (which took only about 5 seconds!) and pointed me toward the door to the parking lot. Very unprofessional. The 2 hour wait for a 1 minute procedure is ridiculous.

I traveled to Bradenton from Indiana in November to see Dr. Cathleen McCabe for clear lens extraction to correct my vision. I'm 48 years old and have been wearing glasses full time since I was 3. She was able to exchange my natural lens with a multifocal implant. I no longer need glasses for distance or to read. This has been life changing for me! I could not have had a better experience. Everyone was very professional and kind throughout the entire process and Dr. McCabe is a masterful surgeon. I highly recommend her for her surgical skills and her offices for exemplary professionalism and care. Well worth the trip from Indiana!

Steer clear of this Dr. performed cataract surgery on me a year ago, I’m now seeing another Dr. who is correcting her mistakes. She made my sight worse than it was prior to seeing her. Absolutely would not recommend this eye surgeon to anyone. Please research and avoid this woman at all cost!

Wish I could give less than 1 star! Totally uncaring, gives very little time or effort. Just wants to get you in, do surgery, get money. Does NOT answer questions. Talks in medical jargon I could not understand though I am a medical professional. Does not inform you of true risks. I would never put myself in her hands.

DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR. In 2015, I had this gray occlusion suddenly appear at the bottom of my eye. Eye Associates of SRQ insisted it was a floater. They refused to listen to me when I told them I wasn't. They sent me home for 3 weeks, during which the occlusion worsened. I was scared, and didn't know what to do. I DIDN'T EVEN GET A DIAGNOSIS UNTIL I MOVED OUT OF STATE: NAION/neuroretinitis & 1 eye dr. now is telling me I should have been given steroids right away to halt damage.

I had a cataract in my right eye in the left eye was good. She replace the lens in the right eye and it was a total breeze she is so professional and caring. She had some difficulty getting the correction that was needed due to the fact that I had Lasic surgery previously. I didn't realize that this permanently change the thickness of the cornea. She was able though to give me 2020 vision even with that complication. I was really concerned about the surgery and she made me feel at ease.

Dr. McCabe has treated my eyes for glaucoma and cataracts. She is professional, caring, and excellent at her profession. She never stops educating herself and has titles that as few as 25 doctors in the US have attained. Very informative, she answers any and all questions you ask. Surgery's a breeze with her expertise. She gave me back my eye sight! Is there anything more important than that? This is what she cares about most, Your Eye sight. I would never think of going elsewhere.

Dr McCabe came in after surgery to see my husband who had shingles on his face and going into his eye. If Dr McCabe had not seen him when she did my husband could have lost his vision. Thank you Dr McCabe for caring so much about your patients to see them after hours.

I was seen by Doctor Cathleen McCabe for cataract surgery and given full tests...and even then my interview with was FAST and non-formative [ten minutes MAX] on a serious permanent surgery. I had to ASK if it was reversible as I read some are. They set a surgery date for early January. I had to go home and read up on what Dr McCabe was even talking about and the ramifications of lens replacement surgery. (I can say a neighbor loves her - had it done and swears by her.)
