She did an ablasion and 2 dnc's did not help my 6 month long heavy menstrual cycle. She was talking hysterectomy. I went to Dr. in Carmel she did in office IUD that day. Has worked for 2 years now. So I went thru 2 unnecessary surgeries and she was talking about the third one (hysterectomy). I would never recommend her to anyone.

Late, talks too much, makes rude remarks. Didn’t trust her to perform a c section and switched doctors.

Look elsewhere for OB care
I had an ultrasound scheduled right before my first appointment ever with Dr. Powless, loved the ultrasound tech and was so excited for the rest of my appt. The nurse kind of joked that Dr. Powless tends to run late. Well, I ended up waiting for more than an hour before I went to the desk and asked if I needed to reschedule. While waiting I overheard the MOST inappropriate conversations between nurses, talking about where they were going out to drink and taking their stethoscope home so they can play naughty nurse for their man over the weekend. I was appalled. Once Dr. Powless finally came to see me 1.5 hours later, she apologized for being late by saying she’s a talker. Luckily I was off of work but definitely felt like a waste of an afternoon just because the doctor is a talker. Otherwise she’s fine, maybe rambles too much and goes off on tangents, see her at your own risk. Hopefully your schedule is flexible.

Dr. Powless is the only obgyn I have had. She is friendly, charismatic, smart, and makes you feel like you both are friends. She has always, always been able to make me feel comfortable and relaxed, which is truly amazing considering that I have a few anxiety disorders. Cecelia Powless and her team are literally the best. I could move 3 hours away from her office and I would still have Dr. Powless as my doctor.

Dr. Powless was nice enough and clearly very intelligent, but I did not feel that she listened to me. She spoke very quickly, and I barely got a word in. I told her my symptoms and she simply tested me for STD's and sent me on my way, even though I have had a consistent partner for 2+ years and I knew that wasn't what was wrong. When I tried to explain that to her, she dismissed me and I ended up being charged $200 dollars for tests that I knew I didn't need. I'm still having the same symptoms, and after my experiences with her I don't plan on returning to her office.

Dr. Powless and the other doctors and nurses left us with nothing but regrets and frustration. When my wife and I think back on our experience at Community, she usually wants to cry. Dr. Powless was okay. However, she talked too fast, didn't listen to us, gave us generic answers, and treated us like children. Our delivery was even worse. The nurses treated my wife and I like kids, making decisions for us rather than asking for our verdict. There was a nurse in particular who treated us particularly poor. We finally requested that she be transferred away from our room, but our request was denied. The nurses did not allow us to have skin-to-skin contact or any other special care. We were simply a cog in their baby delivering machine. No one wants that, especially us. I wish I could say something better. We are left with a big bill for a decision we regret. I would very highly encourage anyone and everyone to go down the street to St. Vincent. You will be very glad you did.

Dr.powless delivered two of my children and about to be three of my children. I would ahd have recommended her to everyone i know! I have alot of kidney issues that can become harmful to my child as well as me while pregnat and she makes sure to check on me every week. It is hard to get in to see her sometimes but trust me its worth it. She is the best obgyn there is.

I really like Dr. Powless, she’s smart and though. But .... it’s soooo hard to get an appointment. I’m an older women and have some issues . Tried to get in for her to look at me and couldn’t for wks ! If you have an issue or problem the staff tells you to see your physician or go to the emergency room. If I wanted to do that I wouldn’t have a gynecologist. It’s ridiculous. I put my trust in her profession. Good luck to all of you .

I would NOT recommend dr powless to anyone!! I had a very painful, significant sized cyst on my ovary and needed to see someone ASAP. She looked at my er records and decided that my symptoms weren't consistent with what the records showed. Said she'd see me in 2 weeks. Ended up seeing a wonderful dr in Indy who immediately took me into surgery. Turns out if the cyst would have burst it would have killed me!! Thanks for nothing dr powless!!
