After my mild heart attack, I found myself in the Cardiac unit of N.E. Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, TX. Dr Stasik was my Surgeon. During our visits he was not in a rush to get to his next patient. He gave my wife and I his full attention. My daughter (an OBGYN) researched him an stated I was In really good hands. Dr. Stasik is the absolute best thoracic doctor. My first surgeon, Dr. New, was on vacation so Dr. Stasik performed a biopsy outside of my lung. He had to go around the scars from my previous surgery. He did an excellent job taking care of my pain, after surgery. I highly recommend him if you need thoracic surgry. Dr. Stasik has accomplished one thing with me......he has caused me to lose faith in the medical system and ability to trust drs. I was diagnosed with an aortic dissection and sent from one hospital to another. He was the surgeon on call and when he checked me over he point blank said I didn’t have the symptoms of an aortic dissection the way the ct images showed. He said I needed a Gated CT but that he couldn’t do it due to the ct scan I had just had saying it could cause me kidney failure to have the two ct scans back to back. No additional testing was done until I was cut open on the operating table and then they proceeded to do an ultrasound directly on my artery to verify nothing was wrong. I suffer daily now with pain and I have so many issues with my bp because of this situation of which has left me with fainting spells many times resulting in concussions. My normal life was ripped away from me because of the negligence of this dr and his surgical team 3 1/2 years ago

Very helpful and very thorough in explaining the upcoming procedure. Both before and then in the followup session,in answering all our questions. We checked others, and decided St. Francis would be our choice for surgery, and De. Stasik would be our surgeon. We found you did not need to go to St. Louis to have it done, and not only convenient, but the nursing staff was outstanding ! This was my first surgery of any kind, and this was new to me, but it all went well and I highly recommend them.
