Pituitary tumor post surgical
I have had four pituitary surgeries with follow up radiation therapy. Dr Choe has been monitoring my hormone levels since then for many years, and has helped me to stay alive. He is a dedicated physician. Very easy to talk to. I would recommend him to any member of my family and have done so.

Arrogant, close-minded doctor. Trust your gut.
Went to him for 2nd opinion. His demeanor, body language and reluctant look told me I was not welcome as a patient (before we even started a conversation). I've never experienced that at UCSD ever. Was it because of my race? I could have walked out but stayed polite, desperate for answers for thyroid cancer treatment (doing my best to advocate for myself). I explained the reason for 2nd opinion-that my current endocrinologist (who I really liked a lot) seems NOT current in her knowledge of thyroid cancer treatment (I asked her about 1-123. She's not heard of it or it being performed at UCSD in the last 20 yrs she's worked there). Dr Choe discredited me by saying, "that's not true". I've been an RN for 40 yrs and have never experienced a doctor who literally accuses a patient of lying. I could have walked out again. I was miserable under his care but stayed (pretended to be happy) because I love all my other UCSD doctors/surgeons and would lose them if I switched to Scripps or Sharp.

Honest, kind and considerate. Easy to get along with. Very knowledgeable. He gave me lots of information and also helped me make the best decision for an insulin pump based on my needs. Due to other medical conditions it was a harder than normal decision.
