Dr Charles Kanos
Dr. Kanos is the WORST Dr. ! I was a patient of Dr. Gardners for 30 years. He unfortunately retired but recommended Kanos. ER recommended immediate surgery & made me a follow-up appt. after an emergency MRI & severe back pain episode. I walked in his office and He turned his computer toward me and said ' The MRI shows You have a horrible back and no surgery. would help' I suggest pain management for life. I stated I had no intention of being a drug addict by popping pain pills. He said that was my only option and said if you try hard enough you will get disability because your back is beyond repair and left the room! I will NEVER go back to him again! Thankfully I found a neurosurgeon that is helping me. I truly believe he does not want to see any patient of Dr. Gardner's. He did my 85 year old aunt wrong also. Her husband 25 yr patient (of Gardner)_w brain trauma and he didn't even touch him. Only said he was asleep and in his last stages of life. He is heartless!!!!

Excellent Doctor
Dr Kanos is very kind, patient and thorough. He listens extremely well and documents the visit with specific information. I’ve had two back surgeries prior to meeting him and feared I needed another. He was very honest and said I needed treatment other than surgery. Another doctor had said I needed major spinal fusion surgery. Dr Kanos contacted my pain doctor and worked out a treatment plan. He is just the best. His office staff in Seneca is just as nice and awesome.

Dr. Kanos used an experimental device in my L4-L5 area that failed 6 weeks later. He said he had no idea what went wrong but wanted to do surgery on another location. After I got 3 second opinions saying he knew exactly what happened, he still said he didn’t know and went to the back room and started throwing things. I will never go back to him. Very childish for such a supposed professional.

Went in for extruded discs in cervical and lumbar. 3 doctors -primary, ortho, and chiropractor had seen the mri and written report. He told me I had no reason to be there. No reason for pain. And the mri wasn’t correct-that was a minor bulge. I wasn’t seeking surgery or pain medication. But he didn’t even offer a solution except physical therapy. No anti-inflammatory. Nothing. He acted like I was making my symptoms up. And he even questioned why someone would order such a mri. Don’t go to him!

Rude bedside manner. Doesn't listen to the patient and rushes out the door and on to the next patient. Never felt so unimportant in my life. My pain did not matter. (6) months later and still in pain.

Dr. Kanos has performed 2 successful tumor removal surgeries on me (brain and spine). He is an excellent surgeon who has a pleasant demeanor yet he does not sugarcoat anything. He is upfront and honest about prognosis, surgery, and what to expect. His staff is helpful and friendly. I highly recommend him if you need a neurosurgeon.

×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Kanos?
Dr. Kanos is known to be a very knowledgable Neurosurgeon, however, when I had my 1st surgery with him(L4-L5), he used an experimental spacer between the vertibrae and 6 weeks later, it failed, causing 2 of the 4 screws in the support plate to fail. When that happened, I returned to him for answers so we could move on. He said he didn't know what went wrong. Spine Surgeons said he knows what happened and should tell me. It appears he was more concerned about liability. Had to go elsewhere!

Dr. Kanos is a wonderful doctor. I have had trigeminal neuralgia for 6 years and he performed the MVD surgery on me in August 2017. That surgery gave me my life back. He is one of the only neurosurgeons around here that does this kind of surgery. I’ll forever be in debt to him. He also has wonderful bedside manner. He came and saw me about 3 times while I was in the hospital recovering from the surgery. I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Kanos.

I could not recommend a doctor more than Dr. Kanos. My personal experience with him and his staff was stellar. Having two severely herniated cervical discs, extensive nerve damage, and loss of muscle usw - I found Dr. Kanos professional and confident with an incredible bedside manner. I am now three months post-op with a perfect recovery from a two level spinal fusion. I would highly refer Dr. Kanos as a surgeon to anyone.

Cannot imagine a better neurosurgeon. I am so thankful that he was on duty when I came into the emergency room. He put me back together after I fell off the house in Oct 2013. I will never be exactly the same but there is not much I cannot do after he repaired my spine. I would give him more than 5 stars if possible.

I was referred to Dr. Kanos after an MRI revealed a 12mm pineal gland cyst that was symptomatic. Dr. Kanos spent only enough time with me to tell me it was nothing, lots of people have them, just have an MRI every year to watch it. Well, the reason i had the MRI in the first place was because it was causing me troublesome problems! I felt rushed and "blown off". I will find another doctor, Dr. Mina's reviews says she takes time with her patients.

I purposefully waited before writing this review of Dr. Charles Kanos. He had me waiting for an hour+ & then spent less than 3 minutes with me. I had to make him come back to the room to answer my ?'s. He said his bluntness was taken the wrong way. This is an excuse he gives himself. I'm a blunt person. Polite but blunt. He misread my MRI & misdiagnosed me. I had to make him fix his mistakes. He's lucky he runs the place. There are a lot of great docs in the area but not Charles Kanos isn't one.
