Very Pleased
This was my initial visit to Dr. Shana and I could not have hoped for a better experience. I was seen promptly by an assistant to gather basic information. She was detailed and compassionate during the course of our time together. Upon completing her review of prior care and confirmation of my symptoms, she indicated Dr. Shana was currently with a patient but that he would be with me shortly. He arrived within 5 minutes, formally introduced himself and turned to the basis for my visit. Dr. Shana listened to my concerns and thoroughly reviewed my past medical care. He asked pertinent questions and completed a physical exam. Upon doing so, he reviewed his assessment with me and offered ample reassurance and suggestions for ways to mitigate my symptoms. Dr. Shana demonstrated a very pleasant demeanor and was generous with his time. The visit never felt rushed. Thanks to Dr. Shana and his staff for an excellent introduction to this practice.

I had a endoscopy with Dr. Shana. I was told that my years of GERD disease has caused a hernia and my esophagus is badly damaged. It has been two months and the office had absolutely nothing to help. I called 4 times explaining to them that my medications that was prescribed by Dr Shawna wasn't helping at all I also told them that I have been suffering for months. I can only eat a few bites of food a day and the pain in my esophagus will not allow me to drink enough fluids to stay healthy. Therefore, I am undernourished and dehydrated. They referred me to a GERD clinic over 2 weeks ago. I have not heard from the clinic at all. Dr. Shana never called in medication that would help with my debilitating symptoms. They have been ignoring me and don't seem to care for their patience. I have never dealt with a doctor and staff in his office to be totally neglected with my condition. I fear that the longer the take their sweet little time to help me, I will end up with cancer of the esophagus...all because of the office of Dr Shawna unprofessional and the neglected the demonstrate with their patience. If you are suffering from gastroenterologist issues, then I would suggest finding a better doctor...don't waste your time with this office and Dr Shawna, you will be very disappointed and frustrated with the lack of care you'll receive.

While definitely knowledgeable, the good doctor does have one major shortcoming. No ears!! I told him I needed him to contact my insurance directly to make sure that the medication I had been on for decades, that they wished to switch me off to a generic for, was needed. I had bad results with the generic. He DID write a letter of appeal, but did not at any point call me. I received a note from the pharmacy saying the prescription for the proper medication was in. Naturally, I thought all was well. I show up and they want 300 bucks. Why, because it isn't covered. He acted unilaterally without the consult to explain that I am coming out of retirement due to extreme financial distress and don't happen to have 300 bucks. A pair of ears not to mention hopping on the phone to the insurance might have made this happen. FIRED!!!!

He came into the room without knocking, did not greet me, and sat at the computer and began typing. I have never had a worse experience at a doctor's office than with him. He drew a picture of the large intestine, signed it, and told me that there was nothing I could do besides become less stressed. I would not recommend Dr. Shana to my worst enemy.

He has a habit of not talking unless prompted, and after telling me I’m in the first stage of cirrhosis of the liver, that’s not too comforting. Honestly told me to look up “NASH” and do some research. I’m more worried than when I went in now, knowing all research has to be done on my own. He just sat and typed into the computer for 20 minutes, and handed me a little drawing with illegible notes on what to look up that now I can’t read. Also, how do I have no content in my after visit summary if he was typing that long? He has no bedside manner or people skills, and that’s saying quite a bit, considering I have autism and tend to cut people a lot of slack. I really hope I can be seen by someone else.

We have visited Dr. Shana several times for the same problem, and expect to continue to see him as required. We did have a long wait for the first appointment. At each appointment, we have come prepared with out questions, and he has taken as much time as he needed to answer all of of them, and always explained everything thoroughly. In addition, if we've sent him questions through MyChart, he has always answered them. He has provided excellent care.
