Horrible pain.
I had a huge kidney stone which lodged in my urethra, causing tremendous pain. Dr. Marinakis tried lithotripsy first, with no result and then had to use a laser to break up the stone. He was great and I feel very fortunate to have had his expertise. Great guy too. Served in the Army as an Apache helicopter pilot, with several deployments!!

Dr. Marinakis saved my life! In 2017 I had outpatient surgery by my OBGYN of 30 years from another state. When I returned to my home in the Boone/Banner Elk area, my husband took me to the ER in Boone because I was in much pain. Dr. Marinakis was the Urologist on call. He discovered my bladder had been punctured during the surgery performed by my OBGYN. My husband and I were told I was going into kidney failure. Dr. Marinakis was calm, direct, reassuring, and confident; it was amazing the way that he took control, made decisions and got things done. He let us know what to expect, his method of treatment and what he would do if that didn't work. He put me at ease and made me feel like I didn't have to be afraid. Best of luck with your new job. I hope your new patients will appreciate you as much as your old ones. Thank you for all you have done for me.

Dr Marinakis was very thorough and interested in helping me with my problem. After explaining my treatment options, I tried medication which didn't do much. I then had bladder sling surgery and no longer have to wear pads or worry about bladder accidents in public. Very satisfied!

While I'm not leaving a comment based on a personal experience, I think that it's crucial to do so. My Mom is 94 years young, and is in exceptional health; considering all that she's endured. She is my rock, especially given the fact that she's a two time bladder cancer survivor. I can say w/certainty that she has done so well, due in large part; to Dr. Marinakis! I hope and pray she continues to thrive, and perhaps some day; I can thank Dr. Marinakis in person.

I found him to be very caring and thorough. He really wanted to get to the root of my problem. I'm great now. Yes, there have been long waits at times, but not his doing. So many folks needing help...I have also spoken with others who liked him. I would recommend him.

Left me waiting in the waiting room for two hours while in excruciating pain, then scolded me for having my doctor set up the appointment rather than waiting. When I asked for medication to help with the pain, he gave me a shot of anti inflammatory and sent me off with no prescription. I was in the ER again that night. he offers little to no explanation to my problem, most of what he says. Honestly, I'd rather drive to Charlotte or hickory than see dr. M. Again.

Great doctor really takes his time answering questions even shows you videos of a procedure before he performs it on you. It's worth the wait to see him. He cared a lot about me and I feel comfortable going to him.

I have previously been treated by a Urologist in Wilkesboro, but was not happy with the service that I had. I was sent by the er for a kidney stone. Dr. Marinakis saw me that day and scheduled for surgery that day. I was impressed with the amount of time he spent with me and his pleasant demeanor. He called me at home the following day to see how I was doing. Never had a Dr. call me before.

Waiting time is 45-90 mins past appt time - every time - to see the doctor. If you ask questions you get very rude replies. Absolutely do not recommend.
