No pain down my legs!
I went to the Toyota Center for an epidural to relieve the neuropathic pain down my legs. Dr. Ornelas was great. Ahead of time, He walked me through the procedure calmly and asked me if I had any questions. As the procedure was happening he kept me updated and asked what I was feeling. I kept the day on the couch for the rest of the day and woke up PAIN FREE!! Everyone at this Keck center was calm and comforting in their care, from the from desk to the assistant who walked me out! I want you to know as a clean freak, that entire out patient center was spotless!

Careless, rushed, and lacking compassion
The worst doctor I've ever seen. I have a serious back condition and transferred care to him after my old doctor stopped taking my insurance. I had been essentially bedridden before arriving, and was desperate for help. When he came into the room, he didn't say introduce himself, he didn't look at my X-rays or MRI, he didn't read my medical history, and didn't ask any questions or examine me. I walked in, he says 'I'm prescribing you oral steroids for back pain' and started walking out the door. I asked him if he was going to look at my records or ask me questions and he said he didn't need to because I wrote 'back pain' and circled my back on the intake form. I said, 'That's it?' and he looked annoyed and said 'What do you want to know?'He didn't explain what the steroids would do and offered no information about the medication and I had to ask him for to take it, for how long, and so on and he seemed irritated that I was holding him up. I have no idea how he has a job.

Don't fall for this incompetent “doctor” with his sweet talk. His only talent is going around the bush, coaxing the patient as a cover because he doesn't know what he is doing. He will avoid answering concerns and make you believe nothing is wrong, but something is wrong. It won't waste time. This person is only concerned about money—a very cocky and arrogant. Christopher Ornelas, don't put yourself high and mighty because tomorrow you might fall down on your face, or worse, karma will also get your family.

Sloppily misdiagnosed, greedy
He spent almost no time with me and before even looking at my X-rays prescribed me medication and PT. I asked if he looked at my X-rays and he didn’t even know I had them. He contradicted what every other doctor told me, which caused my pain to last longer. I was charged almost $1,000 when I only saw him about 10 minutes.

Misdiagnosed me to perform risky/costly procedure
Dr. Ornelas comes off as a nice guy, and very well may be - but his competence and honesty was called into question when he very likely misdiagnosed me (intentionally or not, I will never know) with piriformis syndrome in order to justify a risky and expensive injection in my buttocks. The first procedure went well but the second was anything but, and on top of that he stopped communicating with my PCP. I was referred to another PMR doctor who said, “honestly I don’t think you have piriformis syndrome. I think you have some neuritis which is basically inflammation of the nerves.” That doctor prescribed me some lyrica and the pain went down over time as I also got used to some of the symptoms. Dr. Ornelas may come off as a nice and knowledgeable person but I hope he has learned a lot since this whole episode.
