Excellent Cardiologist
I went to Dr. Porterfield to have a Catheter Ablation for Supraventricular Tachycardia. After dealing with this issue for years, it had gotten progressively worse. I was having episodes of a racing heart, an average of every 3 or 4 days. Dr. Porterfield explained everything very clearly, and took his time with me and my husband. Long story short, I could not be happier. It has been 2 months now since the ablation and I haven't had one racing heart episode. It is SO wonderful to be back to normal. Dr. Porterfield is one of the best around.

Dr. Porterfield, experienced and competent.
Dr Porterfield was brought into my case after pre-procedure testing revealed a complication that threatened a much needed Watchman procedure. His experience allowed my procedure to go forward with no complications. Dr. Porterfield presents as a thoroughly competent professional. He had a calming effect on this patient and my family. It seemed that after meeting Dr. Porterfield and listening to him explain his approach, we just knew all would be ok, and it was!

Moved out of this area
I truly wish he was still in our area, but unfortunately he moved away, I believe in December 2020. His NPA, Mike Doyle, left shortly after. They finally found another cardiologist to replace them, but I no longer go there.

Dr. Porterfield is so unique.......and extremely competent. He recently performed a cardiac ablation on me for SVT's. There's something special about his demeanor that makes you feel super confident in his ability. Ablation technology is moving at such a rapid pace and Dr. Porterfield is on top of the latest procedures. It is not necessary to go to a large city hospital when we have one of the best physicians specializing in electrophysiology right here is San Luis Obispo.

Dr. Porterfield is a miracle worker! SLO is so fortunate to have this cardiologist! He has the kindest and most calm demeanor and he is excellent at what he does! My 76 year old moms A-Fib was preventing her from swimming and walking and traveling- all of the activities she loves. Dr. Porterfield performed a Cryoablation on her and she has resumed all of those activities. Let’s hope that Dr. Porterfield takes up permanent roots in SLO!!

Dr. Porterfield is a wonderful Dr. He truly cares about his patients. He takes plenty of time with you and listens to your concerns and addresses each and everyone of them. He also answers questions you send him on the portal, which is very much appreciated. I would refer him to anyone that needs a Cardiologist, he is the best!! Central Coast is very fortunate to have him.

Dr. Porterfield was very knowledgeable about my condition. He was kind, patient, and respectful of my concerns. He took a great deal of time and care in answering my many questions and addressing my concerns. He provided me with his cell number if I have any questions in the future. I felt well-cared for. I recommended him to any cardiac patient.

Chris Porterfield is the first physician in 72 years who ever gave me his cell phone number and told me to call him if I needed him. Of course one does not want to abuse that privilege. I am one with lots of questions and read alot about my condition and he is willing to explain and answer all of my questions. He responds to the client portal that Coastal Cardiology provides. He is young, bright and very caring and is very thorough. My experience with the office staff has been great.

Dr. Porterfield is an amazing doctor. Truly saves lives. The only down fall with Dr. Porterfield is his staff. They are awful and need extensive training on how to schedule and manage a busy doctor's office. I'm surprised they haven't ALL been fired.
