I saw Dr. Ryan at OHSU and was suggested to start the use of a non-specific chemo drug that would have a 15-20% chance of stopping the spread of my cancer and a 15% chance of reducing the size of my tumors, but that neither would get rid of my cancer, he told me they have no cure for my type of cancer. His outlook grim and hope was non-existent, filling me full of fear and doubt. I stopped seeing him and began seeking care elsewhere where I have been receiving low-dose chemo(chemo that is specific to my type of cancer) and the metastasis to my lungs and heart has completely gone away, and the primary tumor is less then half of the size it was originally and my doctor believes fully that remission will happen shortly. Dr. Ryan seemed ignorant and uninterested in my case, if you want someone who actually believes you can get better, stay far away from this doctor, doubt is the last thing a cancer patient needs.

×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Ryan?
Dr. Ryan is direct, smart and patient. He's not warm and fuzzy, but projects that he cares about a person. I think oncologists might want to maintain some distance from patients who are often within a few years of dying. Dr. Ryan seems to be of that ilk. He does seem on top of all the latest research and is kind.
