Dr. Christopher Trahan, MD

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2022. I soon learned I had a gene mutation and a high risk of another cancer. My oncologist strongly recommended B/L mastectomies. This is terrifying to a woman with fear of disfigurement verses the risk of cancer. I researched my options and met with several plastic sur!geons. I made the decision to travel from NC to NOLA for the expertise of the physicians there. I've had my initial DIEP Flap surgery and am scheduled for revision in December. I am so very impressed with the results so far. My PCP saw me this week and said the results are 'amazing'. Dr. Trahan is a very talented surgeon with highly specialized skills. And his bedside manner is fantastic. Additionally, the staff is amazing! Definitely worth the travel. The office is also very good dealing with insurance and prior authorizations.

Dr. Trahan is a phenomenal doctor and obviously puts his patients first. Going through breast cancer my scars are seen a lot by many different doctors. Every time a new doctor sees them they are astonished at how amazing they look. The scars are barely visible. I am so pleased with Dr. Trahan.

He did my surgery, when I was supposed to have another doctor at the hospital. Both breasts failed, and my stomach is distended.

You will regret using him. I had problem after problem.

From my first phone call with Dr. Trahan I was impressed by his knowledge, compassion, and confidence that he could give me a natural reconstruction. I was also very impressed with his expertise. You want a surgeon who specializes in this procedure and not one who simply performs it as part of their Plastics practice. Dr. Trahan does flap procedures all day everyday. During our first phone conference Dr. Trahan shared his cell number with my husband and I so we could directly contact him with concerns or questions. SGAP flap reconstruction is very specialized and does have risks--of course. It is not an easy way out for the surgeon or the patient. I am VERY pleased with the job Dr. Trahan performed and my physical outcome. There were bumps in the road and Dr. Trahan was always available either through his PA or direct personal contact. I would highly recommend Dr. Trahan and the Center for Restorative Breast Surgery to anyone in need of breast reconstruction surgery.

My experience with Dr Trahan has been exceptional. From the first moment I met him as a recently diagnosed breast cancer patient, he was compassionate, communicative, and straight forward. He has fulfilled every commitment to my health and restoration which he made to me and my husband. The results of my breast restoration are exceptional and I could not be happier having gone through the process with Dr Trahan as my plastic surgeon.

I really liked Dr. Trahan and saw him for a couple of years. I believed in him. He said that my goal would take two surgeries, and now he wants me to have a fourth and fifth. But at the same time, he can't explain to me what went wrong, he's not validating my concerns. I feel like he doesn't have a memory for the promises he makes. I would encourage patients to communicate with him via email and take good notes after meetings. I would just stay vigilant. I have been disappointed seriously. I'm also out a lot more money than I expected I would be and I'm nowhere near my results. I would understand better if I. didn't feel that he was always telling me what he thought I wanted to hear in the moment.

He wasn't realistic about my chances, and he doesn't seem to be able to talk about what really happened without suggesting more surgeries. He's also very hard to get on the phone.

I can't say enough about Dr. Trahan. He's a superb microsurgeon who has given me my life back. I've had more than 1 surgery with him. I've only heard of one person (who's got major unresolved mental issues) make negative things up about him and be very vocal online - and I know of dozens of women who feel as I do about him.

Dr. Tranah left me disfigured. I travelled all the way to new orleans because people said he was the best. He no longer responds to my emails.

A very confusing and sometimes inappropriate doctor. Will sell you hard on his magical powers - huge ego, wants to be a savior - but when things go wrong will leave you confused, hanging, lost, and abandoned. When things went wrong, major gaslighting. Turned out I was right and he avoided admitting it. Leaves his staff to do dirty work and they aren’t qualified. Just a mess. I see doctors several times a month and most aren’t good. Dr Trahan has sculpted me into a woman with breasts again with his amazing talent as a surgeon. All I saw before was a sunken chest and ugly scars. His attention to detail is wonderful and the whole experience really surpassed my expectations with his authentic compassion for those of us who have not only battled cancer but fought an antiquated system of plastic surgery to reconstruct our breasts after cancer. PS I traveled to New Orleans from Missouri and it was soooo worth the extra effort!
