Professional, competent, kind and caring doctor who listens to my concerns

I had knee replacement surgery in early March 2024... I am 65 years old, and unfortunately have had many surgeries in my lifetime ranging from a tonsillectomy to quadruple bypass surgery. Dr. Duchene is by far the best surgeon that I've ever had work on this worn out body. He and Nick both not only took the time to explain the procedure to me, but they went above and beyond to make sure that I understood everything that was going to happen, and answered all my many questions. It is now four months post surgery and my knee is feeling better than it has in decades. Their follow up with me has also been exceptional... My heartfelt thanks to Dr. Duchene, Nick and their entire staff at BH Orthopedic for their dedication and commitment to providing truly outstanding and quality care!

My service w Dr. Duchene and his P.A. Nick Toulsma has always been excellent! I have undergone many surgeries on my leg from a very bad wreck w a ATV. P.A. has seen me many times over the years for shots in my knees, finally I was told 'I can't give you any more shots because you need a Total knee replacement.' I have been expecting this news since my wreck in 2016 it was a shock, but I'm glad I had the surgery w Dr. Duchene! He's a very personal person and gave me the best care I needed! Yes I would highly recommend him again as my Surgeon and His team! Black Hills Surgery Center was amazing as well w my care after surgery.

Dr D showed and explained the imaging results. We then went thru my list of questions. Also during this visit,I was able to schedule following necessary procedures. I will say that I am very unsatisfied with the radiologist report of scan done at BHOSC, in that my causative issue wasn’t even noted by the radiologist-but was picked up by Dr D and team upon their review of the images.

Dr. Duchene and his staff have been consistently thorough, kind, patient, and unhurried every time I’ve seen them in the course of the treatments over the past 10 to 15 years. This includes both from my own care and that of my husband. Dr. Duchene is the only doctor, until recently, who paid attention to and reminded staff while I was in the hospital about my restless leg condition which flares up every time I’ve had surgery. I was extremely grateful for his attention to that detail, as well as his treatment of both me and the hospital staff. The staff at Black Hills surgery center also speak highly of him which I think speaks to his overall character and professionalism

Doctor Duchene and PA Tolsma gave me my life back. Because of my hip replacement and fast recovery I am back to doing things I enjoy. Thank you to the entire staff.

Dr. Duchene, PA Tolsma and Darliss the surgery scheduled are the rudest surgery team I’ve ever seen. They Refused surgery on 2 tears in my shoulder. Sent me to neurology&PT. They called me and told me they were calling to schedule surgery in a week and never called. I called several times to reach a surgery scheduler and got only an answering machine and no return call. Then PA Tolsma called to say they changed their mind. No surgery. I sought a 2nd opinion. They agreed to surgery.
