I picked this doctor bc she had good reviews on the Mt Sinai website, and bc Mt Sinai accepted my insurance at the time. It feels like she’s a doctor by looking at a computer, not talking to me because she follows up via MyChart. I didn’t like that she ended the appointment by walking out of the room, not asking if that’s all there is. She didn’t give me an opportunity to ask questions. She didn't ask about flu shots or even COVID. She also seemed confused about when she had spoken to me last. The entire appointment really put me in a bad mood when I left. She sends online reminders to make appointments, but I still plan to find someone else because I didn’t like how unhappy I felt after leaving.

Dr. Portella
I visited with Dr. Portella on 3/3/22. This would be my 3rd time visiting her within a year and a half and I haven't been happy not once with her. I only was seeing her because my previous dr. moved. Dr. Portella's bedside manner is horrible. She never says hello, speaks barely above a whisper and just doesn't seem like she cares enough. I was really annoyed with this recent visit, enough to say I'm not using her again. Yesterday my issue was serious, she did make time to see me on short notice because of the situation and I was grateful for that but then she walks in the room, doesn't say hello how are your feeling, just says "we're only focusing on her your concern today cause I had to squeeze you in". Even her assistant was taken aback by that. Just rude and she seemed to brush it off with she "suspects" it's blah blah. I had to fight her to get a referral for a sonogram. Don't believe the stars. If you're big on bedside manner, go see another doctor not her (rolling eyes).

Dr. Portella is very thorough in her diagnostic. It is the most important quality that a physician can have. she doesn't let any physical question unanswered. I am lucky to have her as a primairy care physician.

Echoing the previous review, this doctor so very robotic! Didn’t ask me any questions, I had to actively give her information about my health and background before she even bothered to ask. She wanted the appointment to be finished and was walking out the door while I was still asking the questions. Shocking, awful bedside manner. Doesn’t seem interested in patients. Wont go to her again

I'm sorry to say that Dr. Portella has one of the worst bedside manners I have ever encountered. I don't know how else to put this except to say I felt like I was talking to a robot. I was actually shocked by the level of robotic speaking and mannerisms, it was very jarring. I went to her because my previous doctor left the practice. Dr. Portella contradicted everything my previous physician told me about my health, including that I shouldn't be taking the prescriptions her colleague prescribed me. I will never be back.

One of the most proffessional phisicians I ever encountered. So quiet and humble that surpass any patient's expectation. When you walk out after her visit, you already feel half healed.I think she's underestimated by her superiors.Well, she has that extra-sense that we, the patients, look more-and-more after. Thank you, Mount Sinai, for helping us.

i was looking for a new doctor in Astoria... My health insurance gave me her name and got an appointment for an annual check up... Very cold woman and not friendly... She said first that there were 2 kinds of consultations and mine was because i had concerns... she just asked the exact same questions as her assistant...did not even check anything physically...i had a blood test and still waiting for a call for the result... Worst experience ever... Thanks for nothing...

I've been coming to Mount Sinai Hospital for the past 5 years. I had to choose a new doctor since the one I was seeing was relocating. To my bad luck it had to be Dr. Claudine I showed up at exactly 12.45 for my appointment, within a few seconds the receptionist informs me that Dr, Claudine won't be able to see me till 5 pm !!! I was gobsmacked! Mind you I was not late for my appointment. Why overbook if you can't handle so many patients? I left hospital with more headache. Lesson learned-always research who you are about to see. Have I seen all the horrible experiences her patients write about her, I would've not wasted my time.

Terrible bedside manner. Urgent care had given me the same diagnosis, asked me more questions about why I was there/ past history, and was so much nicer. She's rude and makes assumptions that has nothing to do with your sickness.
