LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr Cheng & his Staff
I would refer everyone to Dr Cheng for all your medical eye care needs. 5 out of 5 stars. From my 1st phone call to schedule an appointment Dr Cheng’s staff was INCREDIBLE!From the minute I arrived for my initial consultation the staff was INCREDIBLE! I wasn’t even done filling out paperwork when I was whisked away to begin preliminary eye tests & the staff was incredible! When Dr Cheng came into my exam room he was incredibly professional & I felt instantly comfortable. He took the time to explained everything to me & did not leave until all my questions were answered. Because I felt so at ease with Dr Cheng, I scheduled the needed Cateract Surgeries feeling comfortable with his experience & knowledge and knowing he’ll take good care of me and my eyes.

Excellent cataract surgeon
My cataract surgery was done efficiently, with no pain. I had a scrape and redness on my right eyeball the day after but dr cheng called and asked if i had pain or discharge- i had none. It cleared up soon. I highly recommend him.My only complaint is that his scheduler was very curt and when i had to reschedule ( twice) she told me “ that’s the last time!” Like she was scolding a child! Otherwise all was fine.

Cataract Surgery
Dr. Cheng was professional, kind and friendly. As I'd had a painful and traumatizing experience during a prior cataract surgery performed by another doctor in Southern California, he listened carefully to my concerns and patiently explained the steps he'd take to avoid the mistakes made by the other doctor. The surgery was pain and trauma free, he calmly kept me informed through each step of the surgery. I unreservedly recommend Dr. Cheng.

Usually a long wait in a room with no explanation for the delay. Sometimes you can see he is in different rooms at the same time of the appointment. When he finally comes into the exam room, he dies not spend an appropriate amount of time with the patient and is very short to answer questions. Yesterday, my 89 years old dad who has Alzheimer, was desperate asking me to leave while we were waiting for the doctor as many other times. I calmed him down, asked the reception about the delay, kept waiting, saw the doctor leave an exam room but getting into another one, decided to wait until the 60th minute and left. I missed 1 hour 45 minutes unpaid work time to bring my dad to his appointment. Dr. Cheng is not respectful of patients and rides.

Top Ophthalmologist in Santa Cruz
Dr. Cheng has been my doctor for 9 years. He has performed my cataract surgery, addressed issues with dry eyes and cornea scarring, plus provided a great referral to Stanford for specialized eye surgery. His expertise, clear communications, thorough examinations, mindfulness of my time, and general effectiveness make me feel secure in his care and diagnosis. His staff is kind, helpful, and efficient. I highly recommend him.
