Hiatal Hernia Repair and Implant
I had hiatal hernia repair and implant in September 2024. The surgery went well, and I was able to return to eating normally pretty quickly after. After a month, I began to regurgitate food. Not everything i ate, but at least 4 times a week. There isn't specific foods that cause this, I can eat someting fine one time, and not the next. I eat everything very slowly, dinner is long cold before I am finished. I can't eat in restaurants much, as I'm not sure how it will go. This continues 8 months later. Heart burn has also returned quite often, but obviously does not come into my throat. If I knew what I know now, I probably would not have the surgery. That being said, I do not believe it has anything to do with the surgeon. Dr. Smith and his office were wonderful to work with, and are hopeful this will subside at some point. They have provided medication to assist. I am hopeful that my healing is slow and I will return to some normal as time passes. Hope this helps.

Inguinal hernia Repair
Dr. Smith is the very best. I had a inguinal hernia and after watching lots of you tube videos I was skeptical on using mesh as part of the repair process. Dr. Smith took the time to answer all my questions and concerns. He said after this surgery was over I would probably say 'what was the big deal'. Well he was 100% right. Surgery went great, I am having no pain and feel like myself again. His nurse Barb is sweet and understanding. I really appreciate all her help and guidance with this operation.

Best surgeon ever
Went to see Dr. Smith after I had had another surgery and had not been able to keep food down for 5 months loosing almost 26 plus pounds. He did extensive testing and found the problem that the other surgeon never even looked for. After plenty of testing, he did the surgery and now I am able to eat soft foods again and well on the way to the recovery! His bedside manner is perfect and I have never seen such a caring doctor. While in the hospital, he came by sometimes twice a day to check on me and my progress. He thoroughly explained everything he was doing and what my problems were and how he would fix them. I can’t give him a good enough praise because I am now keeping food down and on the road to gaining weight back and getting well. He is the BEST in my opinion!!!

Rude and condescending
Dr. Smith wants to be your single stop shop for surgical consult. He does not want you to obtain other opinions. He does not want to help you if you have a problem following a surgery.
