Highly recommend
My case isn’t too complicated, but I found him very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. He spends a good amount of time with his patients and listens to them. Highly recommend!

This was my first visit and I must say I felt so comfortable with Dr. Van Hook. He is very knowledgeable and goes out his way to help you with your health issue. His student assistant was very welcoming also, she made sure she listened to my issues as well. Would recommend Dr. Van Hook to anyone that seeks a Neurologist.

My son has had migraines for years. Searching for a neurologist I came across Ochsner's page where they bill their headache specialists as innovative and ready to treat. I made an appointment with Dr Colin Van Hook. The appt ended within 10 min. After a very dismissive interview by him, he offered no scans, no tests, no prescriptions, and no hope. He actually told us, "people get headaches". What exactly is innovative about that? To make it worse, he coded the bill as new patient exam, which would normally be at least over 30 min and had the gall to charge over $400 for the visit. I was appalled and disputed the charge, but Ochsner continues to back him up. My kids and I have been in the Ochsner system for over 20 years and I have never been this insulted or disappointed by such a poor level of care.

Very caring and knowledgeable physician. He listened to what my concerns were and explained exactly the steps he would be taking. Asked if I understood and had any questions. Actually took up time with us to understand our needs.

I have been to a few neurologists who completely ignored me and refused to help in anyway. I started seeing Dr Van Hook about 2 years ago and he listened, was compassionate, and actually took the time to look through my records and really help me. He ordered test and put me on medication when no one else would. He has been so very helpful for me and even sent me to another specialist i would have not been able to see without his help. His office is a bit slow, but thats not his fault.

Have called 8x in one week with questions about my condition and medication. Keep being told that someone will call me back but no one does. Not sure where to go from here. I guess I'll try a new Dr.

He was very unhelpful. He pretty much gave up on treatment for my condition. Told me it was due to stress when I don't stress at all . Discharged me from hospital without any concern of my well being. Once I figure out from the epilepsy foundation what's going on I will be filing a lawsuit for not exhausting all options on my case. I would not recommend anyone to see him he's arrogant and lazy.

The descriptions i gave for my symptoms seemed to go in one ear and out the other. my condition is extremely painful, but i was never prescribed medicine for the pain. i almost felt like this doctor thought i was there to try to score pain medicine. i left feeling unhelped and without hope of getting healthy again.
