My wife is STILL grieving
I have to watch my wife grieve every year on our daughter’s birthday because of this lady. I just watched her fall apart all over again this past weekend. After leaving the hospital post birth in 2022, she didn’t know she left with her body permanently altered and in so much pain she couldn’t walk or stand. We asked for answers for over a year before she requested her medical records and discovered the wrong procedure was performed and mysterious consent forms filled out by Corinne, were added. Despite asking, we had not gotten an explanation outside of “research shows removal is preferred over tying tubes”. VPFW and tuckey larus blatantly disregarded her consent forms and did what they wanted to her body. We have had over 75 women share similar stories on social media detailing their horrible experiences with her as well. The least we can do is continue to share our story and bring awareness. She needs to be held accountable.

I wish I could read negative stars must read
I would leave a 1 star review but I want people to actually see this and this is about the women I don't understand how she still is practicing Dr Corinne Tucker-Larus When I was pregnant with my youngest, she told me I would never carry a baby to term again so I requested to have my tubes tied (not removed) I had an extremely hard pregnancy with my youngest my body kept trying to miscarry him and I'm so grateful he held on.. not to mention this Dr kept pushing opioids at me the whole pregnancy Day of the procedure they went through where I had my epidural to do a spinal block but the problem with that was the epidural didn't work it just paralyzed me from the waist down and I felt EVERYTHING! Needless to say when they were asking me if I was numb I kept saying no and she walks in and just starts the surgery while I'm screaming I can feel that. Thankfully they sedated me but when I woke up I was in the worse pain I had ever felt, yes worse than giving birth I ended up in the hospital

Too afraid to speak out for years
I never wrote a review because as a young adult at the time, I was terrified. I was a patient of her from 2016-2019 and I wish I never was. I stayed with the practice due to insurance. Despite medical guidelines, Dr. Tuckey-Larus insisted on doing a yearly pap with no high risk history (no HPV, STDs). I told her it was painful for me and still made me do it. I jumped backwards because of the pain and was called “dramatic.” She made me do a pap because “she didn’t trust men.” The following year I REFUSED, which she didn’t like. I guess I was wasting her time because her schedule was always overbooked and I often waited for over an hour to even see her. She also made horrible, untrue accusations about my fear of her exams. To this day, I struggle. Explaining this to my new NP GYN, made me feel empowered to speak out for women when she told me that I should have filed an ethics complaint. I hope nobody has the same PTSD I have today from her horrific bedside manner & painful exams

If I could give a negative 1000 stars, I would! Dr. Corrine Tuckey-Larus completely ruined my life! I trusted her to tie my tubes post birth 3/8/2022 and left the operating room with my fallopian tubes completely removed! I requested my documentation and found additional/new documents with the procedure/names altered. All of my consent forms stated "tubal ligation" from 12/2022-3/7/2022. On 3/8 I had duplicate form outside of what I already signed. Literally the same documents with different procedure names which were clearly altered. She didn't even have the common decency to tell me that she removed my tubes. I had to find out, on my own 7 months later by reviewing my records, determining why I got sick! On 3/9 I left the hospital in a significant amount of pain (not because of birth but because of a botched procedure). There was panic if the room, which is why I request my documents in the first place - This "panic" was also never disclosed. Under the impression the pain was a result of the "tubal ligation", I supposedly received, I tolerated the pain until I couldn't anymore to find I had an infection, a ruptured ovarian abscess, colitis, a stomach infection and was deemed under sepsis alert, spending a total of 7 days in the hospital, away from my newborn and 2 toddlers. I have NEVER written a complaint but since the medical board has failed me, I will be certain to plaster my story wherever I can. I went into surgery with an option to reverse my procedure and left, completely STRIPPED OF MY RIGHTS!!! I have never felt so disposable, unheard, and violated in my life!!!!!!! DO NOT TRUST THIS PROVIDER OR VPFW as they DO NOT take accountability. I would have at minimum appreciated an explanation or empathy and I Couldn't even get that....

Best doctor ever
I LOVE Tuckey. I have health anxiety and she keeps me sane with her straightforward personality. She doesn’t feel like a snooty doctor at all yet she’s crazy smart and has helped tremendously with my difficult postpartum recovery. I think I would have been a lot more anxious during my pregnancy, labor, and recovery with any other doctor.

Terrible
I take no pleasure in leaving bad reviews, but I want other people to know that the bad reviews about Dr. Tuckey-Larus are true. I had an appointment with this doctor recently for a breast check because I noticed a lump on my breast. I was told when I scheduled the appointment that my regular doctor was not available, so I made an appointment with the first available doctor - Dr. Tuckey-Larus. I never even got to meet this doctor. I was in the waiting room for an hour when a nurse came out to tell us that Dr. Tuckey-Larus had to leave for an emergency C-section. We were told that our options were to wait (another) hour or reschedule the appointment. There were about 4 other people waiting to see her. No telling where I was on the list of patients waiting to see her. Seeing as this appointment was very stressful and emotional for me, I was less than impressed with the way this doctor keeps her schedule. She should really be more considerate of her patient's time and not overbook appts.

The Best OB I have ever had
I have been a patient of Dr. Tuckey-Larus since I was 19, I am now 40. She is by far the best. She delivered my son during my high risk pregnancy via C-section, he was almost 6 weeks early. She knows I’m always nervous and has always made me more relaxed during my procedures and appointments. She does not make me go through pain to have my IUDs inserted, so she cares about her patients and listens to them especially when it involves pain. She’s hilarious and her bedside manner always puts me more at ease. She listens to my concerns and advices me on the options I have and the actions I can take. The phrase I particularly look forward to hearing at the end of my exam is “You’re boring”, because I can breathe a sigh of relief, otherwise I would be worried. By far my favorite and thankful she is my doctor.

I would give zero stars if I could!
Spent more time adjusting her scarf than examining me. I had a question and had to call to her back as she rushed from the room. She came back in extremely annoyed that I would have the audacity to actually have a question! Rude and arrogant.

Too busy with her own opinions
I’m a first time patient and came for menopausal issues. I ended up waiting 30 min before she saw me, she told me more about her own symptoms than listened to mine, was called out for an ongoing delivery after 7 min with me and disappeared for another 30 minutes. When she came back she was so rushed she barely sat down, spoke a mile-a-minute, crammed three packs of estrogen creams in my hands, told me what she had decided and was going to prescribe me and ushered me out of the room. It’s not that I don’t trust her skills and knowledge but she obviously has so many pre-conceived assumptions that it’s hard to trust that she really made an individual evaluation of my body, and didn’t just go with some standardised response. She prescribed both estrogen and progesterone without asking if I had tried it before (which I have) and how I reacted to it. I kind of prefer my physicians to actually have a conversation with me before stuffing me with hormones.

This doctor put an IUD in me without even caring if she hurt me and I almost had a seizure (I have epilepsy) and she just left the room and didn't even come back to check on me. She also put the IUD in me wrong, the string is gone, and it isnt in the correct place--She was too busy getting to her other overbooked patients. If you see this doctor you will wait more than an hour. Also she doesn't listen to you at ALL. She will talk over you and her attitude is a snot. Worst attitude from a doctor I've ever experienced and I will never see her again. I'd give her a negative review if I could.

I have been a patient of Dr TL's for almost 10 years now. She delivered both of my children. As mentioned in other reviews, her manner is very to-the-point. Which I appreciate. I understand why other patients could be put off by that, but for me it works. I tend to be someone who worries and over-analyzes every little thing, so it is great for me to have a Dr who is no-nonsense. When she says "you're boring" I can relax. Boring is a good thing when it comes to medical issues! She also has quite a sense of humor and tries to make her pelvic exams quick! She also always remembers things about me/my family and asks about it during visits. I had an issue where my pharm kept switching my perscription to a different generic saying "it's the same" but it caused me problems. Not only did Dr TL listen to my concerns, but she made sure my pharmacy fixed the issue. Overall Dr TL is great. She is not the sweet or sugarcoating type, but she is extremely knowledgeable and an excellent doctor!

I hate to leave bad reviews, but a doctor's bedside manner (at least for me) is just as important as his or her expertise, especially if you have medical anxiety. At my last appointment, I sat in the waiting room for an HOUR — no one ever told me why it was taking so long until I got up and asked someone. I didn't want to reschedule because it was hard enough to muster up the courage to make the appointment in the first place (I mean, who likes getting these exams, right?). When I was finally called back I was ushered in and out coldly in about 5 minutes. She was jovial but in an off-putting way. I remember her (jokingly) saying something like, "boy, you're boring" when she found nothing wrong with me. It was awful. It took me over two years to go back to a GYN thanks to that experience. I picked one from St. Francis and am very thankful. I don't want a GYN whose personality "has to grow on me," I want to be comfortable from the start.

I understand the negative reviews here, because my first few experiences with Dr. Tuckey-Larus were as described, so she is definitely not for everyone. I've seen her for about 2 years now and have grown to enjoy her working style and honesty. I have had to speak up a few times just to remind her that although she is the professional, I'm the only one who lives with my body on a daily basis and so I need my perspective acknowledged. As soon as I spoke up she was on my side and working with me to get to the bottom of it. Now, I've had several pelvic exams performed by her and I appreciate how quick she is. She remembers a lot of details about her regular patients, she always compliments my "beautiful uterus" and says goodbye by calling me "boring" - which personally brings me comfort, as boring = healthy. She's not for everyone, she's a very special kind of a Dr. but I now go out of my way just to make sure my insurance covers her practice so that I can continue seeing her.

The absolute worst Dr. I have ever encountered. Very rude, no bedside manners at all. She put me thru an HSG, which is borderline barbaric. Then had her nurse call to tell me that my right Fallopian was blocked hence my infertility issues, no reason given for the blockage just told it was nothing else she could do. Had a second opinion (yes another HSG done) and that Dr. actually showed me the dye flow through not only my left tube but also the flow to my right tube as well. Turned out it was just my hormones out of wack and that Dr prescribed me Chlomid and I conceived 3 months later! If you do decide to make an appointment with her, go ahead and make an appointment with another Obstetrics/Gynecology DR b/c you will need that second opinion.

While I agree with other reviewers that she is quick and sometimes seems like she is not listening -trust me when I say she is! As a fellow Northerner, I understand and appreciate her demeanor. Most importantly for me, she was the doctor to find my thyroid condition and my breast cancer. If I still lived in VA I would continue to see her as my doctor. Get passed her fast pace and appreciate her knowledge and experience, I know I do!
