Dr. Craig Morgenthal, MD

I had to wait an hour and a half past my appointment time then spent 10 minutes with me. Spent those 10 minutes talking over me and never listening to anything I was trying to say. Never even mentioned the long wait time. Apparently, his time is the only one that matters. This was just a consult for surgery. Needles to say, I am going somewhere else for a second opinion.

Good 'ol boys mentality in the medical field finally happened to 2 me Doctor refused to see me because I was seen 7 years prior for 5 minutes by his colleague, Dr. Steven Hodgett. That doctor supposedly reviewed my medical imaging and records which showed my stomach protruding in my diaphragm and he his professional determination was that I needed to eat slower and smaller portions. He never asked about other issues like GERD, upper abdomen soreness, history of pericarditis or anything that would lead a competent surgeon to investigate if this herniation was the cause of my vomiting and "feeling of food stuck in my throat." Then this incompetent doctor says because I'm an established patient of Hodgett he can't see me. Neither of these doctors did a full review of my medical history. They just reviewed the images that showed no stricture and gave an uneducated guess that eating behaviors were the cause. Incompetence at best and at worse, they prefer to protect their own than to uphold the oath they swore to.

Waited an hour and 5 minutes just to be told that I would have to wait another hour. I am/was a new patient. On my way out of the parking lot I got to watch the train come by since my day was going so well. They could have called me at home to tell me he was running way behind. Not a great, first impression.

My 1st appt with Dr Morgenthal was 8/10 and on 10/29/21 Dr Morgenthal repaired a large paraesophageal hernia & performed the gastric sleeve bypass. It was a complicated procedure due to the hernia being larger than was thought. His staff is excellent and his MA, Flo is amazing. Contact with the office has been excellent with the staff being very professional and friendly. I would recommend Dr Morgenthal to anyone considering bariatric surgery or hernia repair. My only issue is with the wait times to see him or his PA, Carly. They seem to run late a lot. But the wait is worth it so don't let that make you have second thoughts. :-)

Dr. Morgenthal, his staff, and indeed the entire Baptist Health operation have an uncanny ability to work together in communication for the good of the patient. Dr. Morgenthal’s expertise and professionalism sets the bar. His office staff including Medical Assistant, Flo and PA, Carley assist him in guiding and educating the patient throughout the procedure from first visit to follow up. I had fundoplication and hiatal hernia surgery. Being initially hesitant after the scheduling found me back at his office for a consult. With a wonderful bedside manner and high level of expertise, he explained and assured me once again that this was the operation for me. And indeed it was. After surgery, I felt immediately better and the procedure has changed my life.

I went to see Dr. Morgenthal for Hiatal Hernia Surgery. He showed genuine concern for my condition and quality of life. I had no complications and my recovery was uneventful. Dr. M's nurse Flo, was very responsive on returning my phone calls when I had questions about my diet during recovery. They turned an intimidating situation into a pleasant experience.

Recently received gastric sleeve surgery. Great service by the team.

Doesn't take the time to see, couldn't get an appointment until nurse reviews case does not have a lot of experience

I recently went through the process of undergoing gastric sleeve surgery. I was so impressed on how quickly the process took me ( about 6-8 weeks). Given the hurdles one has to go through to get the surgery approved by the insurance, Dr Morgenthal's office went above and beyond to properly educate me, properly screen and ensure I would be a good candidate for the surgery. So far 2.5 weeks out I am down 16 pds and I couldn't be happier. Flo, Dr. Morgenthal's MA is amazing!!! I was blessed!!!
