First strike!
I began seeing Crystal after she took over for Dr. Byrd at St Alphonsus. Six months after being under her care I had a suicide attempt and was inpatient for 2 weeks. In the follow up appointment post discharge, she had the gall to say she was giving me a first strike, she doesn’t play baseball, and if it happened again she’d discharge me from her care. She then said her license is how she provides for her family and essentially said she values that license more than my life. Result? My case manager was appalled and my father (retired surgeon) was speechless. All 3 of us agreed that we would want the discharge to happen that day.But there is a good outcome to all of this…I now see a REAL doctor, an MD who took the Hippocratic oath, as opposed to Crystal, who did not take that oath. What might you ask is the difference between a DO and an MD? MDs have better training in med school, have better matches for residency and put their patients’ care above all else.Would 100% avoid Crystal.

Disappointed
I took my son to Dr. Larson. She came across as impatient, only asked the “check the box” questions on her computer screen, didn’t want input from family. She put my son on a new antidepressant. In the weeks that followed, my son became more depressed and very seriously suicidal. One of the steps we took to keep him safe was making an immediate appt with Dr. Larson. At our previous visit, we were told that a serious side effect of antidepressants is an increased risk of suicidal thoughts and if this were to happen, the medication needed to be stopped. Instead of taking him off the medication, she actually suggested upping the dose. I was dumbfounded. If an antidepressant is making you feel more suicidal, it stands to reason you would discontinue the medication, not increase the dose! We had some other concerns and wanted to discuss the possibility of a different diagnosis, but she would NOT listen. She had “already screened for it” and wanted no input from family whatsoever. Disappoint

She's the best!
Very friendly. Love her spirit. Because of Covid restrictions, I can't see her mouth, but her eyes smile often. She listens to my nuanced problems, even my personal struggles beyond physchiatry. She makes me feel like I'm her only patient. Would recommend her to all who ask me. She is a credit to her profession.

Dr. Larson is no longer in Bend, Oregon & has moved to Boise Idaho area. She's young and a by-the-book doctor who likes to diagnose & treat PTSD. As someone mentioned in their review, Dr. Larson does not look up from her laptop, is robotic in her speech & questions. She is reachable, does listen, follow up & consistent. I think because she's "young" she's up on more current info in Psychiatry which is good. Her medical assistant Rachelle was wonderful & I was sad when she left. Dr. Larson ultimately left St. Charles because it was & is so poorly run, overworked & under budgeted for Mental Health Care. She told me she was leaving Bend & the state & St. Charles did not post her job & I don't know that she's been replaced with an M.D. psychiatrist yet & she left in August 2020. Dr. Larson was basically my only option here in Central Oregon given my Medicare insurance via St. Charles.

Dr. Larson was very uninviting and cold. She barely acknowledged me as I entered the room and immediately began asking questions without looking up from her laptop. This was the most bizarre experience I've ever had with a mental health professional.

Dr Larson has provided guidance and a careful approach with meds for my spouse’s bipolar condition and helped her climb out of the abyss.
