My husband saw Dr Self for an eye injury. Surgery was unsuccessfull. She was rude and indifferent to painful procedures. She was angry that we used the on call doctor on a weekend when proceedure was failing. Would not recommend her under any circumstances. Ever..

My eyes healed perfectly after both cataract surgeries, so no problem there. The problem lay in the fact that I asked to remain near-sighted and my second eye tested at 20/20 after the surgery and could no longer see my computer screen or paperwork clearly enough to do my work. I made an appointment with Dr. Self to follow up, stating that I thought an error was made with the lens and, as I am relocating out of state in the very near future, stated that, if so, I expected to have her office cover any expenses outside of insurance for laser correction in 6 mos or so. She was very defensive and stated that there is no guarantee of getting the expected vision...some people even end up blind. Not her fault. Makes me wonder if she is as curt and thoughtless with her response to people who have a major problem after the surgery. Surgery technique...seems excellent. Response to any question of her perfection after surgery... sadly unprofessional.

Not in any would I recommend Dr. Self.

'routine' cataract surgery left me with a flicker at the edge of the eye, still flickering over two months later. Dr Self considers this 'normal' and has no remedy. Her prescription for a new right lens was so inaccurate that I had to be retested by our optician; a new prescription lens is being made for my distance vision. I have cancelled my surgery on the other eye and will look for another surgeon.

Annual checkups keeping track of vision,etc.. Performed surgery, removing cataracts in both eyes, putting in new lens; called me at home on evening of surgery checking to make sure I was o.k. Did complete followup on surgery day after surgery. 1st Class Doctor
